Popped in here for lunch in a dog friendly pub. the staff were very hospitable and the food was very good and reasonably priced. Home made chips and tartare sauce were stand outs for me served with other things, they were just excellent. Very much recommended
The best gluten free menu I've seen! Best pizza I've had since I was diagnosed coeliac 5 years ago and for once more than 2 choices at every course - in fact it was hard to find 2 things that were not gluten free on the whole menu, I was overwhelmed with choices! Fantastic team who were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We will definitely be back.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary here.. And it was amazing ,food was above and beyond our expectations. The service was brilliant and the staff very friendly and helpful.. Definitely back to try other dishes.. Many thanks for making our wedding anniversary that extra special Food & drinks: The food we ordered was above our expectations.. well presented and every dish was served hot..
Made a 50 minute journey for lunch on a wet August Thursday and was not disappointed. Service was friendly and quick. Food was very tasty and as a coeliac the GF options were really good. Best Chicken Liver Parfait I've ever had and the sausages and mash were very tasty too. My 11 year old is a brownie expert and this was the best he'd had. Really impressed and will be back again soon. Thank you!!
We had the most delicious lunch at The Dolphin. Ben and Angela were welcoming and friendly when we arrived and were so helpful. The food arrived after a short wait just the right amount of time and we didn't feel rushed. The salmon and prawn salad with fries was the the perfect choice. I would highly recommend a visit to The Dolpin. Thank you.
Had a lovely sharing Sunday lunch today on our journey back from Bournemouth to the Midlands.it was delicious. The staff were lovely, especially Bethany who could not do enough to please us. Very enjoyable. Would recommend it! Food & drinks: Well put together Sunday lunch. Loved the roast carrots and parsnip and the meats were very tender,
Booked in as a 4 for food on Wednesday for our first visit to the Dolphin. All our food was great. Timely and hot. Staff were very attentive with out being intrusive. The decor is very nice. A lovely choice for a meal in summary. Food was great. Staff were lovely. Cannot fault the Dolphin at all. Thank you.Service: 5/5
Went for evening meal in Party for 8 including children 11 years up. Delicious menu, lovely staff who were happy to chat through food - and barman who explained how they made their Old Fashioned . Lovely table, lots of space and good car park. Will return.
A mixed review! Visits for food and drinks only no accommodation. Our 1st visit here as a large group was brilliant. Great service and fantastic food. We visited again recently as a smaller group of 3 and didn’t have such a great time. Food Sunday Roast was average and overpriced for what we received. Portion control was erratic and service was ‘ok’.
This was a really disappointing meal. We visited The Dolphin and found that the menu has drastically changed to a year ago when there were many more and far better options. I opted for the 2 course option out of a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts, so a very limited choice. The starter was soup which was mediocre at best, very oily oil was tipped on top like a weird slippery puddle and served with bread with the consistency of very dense crumbly cake. The butter it came with seemed redundant as the "bread" was soaked in something, potentially garlic butter so was very heavy. The main was gnocchi and asparagus which was far smaller then my girlfriend's pasta dish more to follow on that. I have never had fried gnocchi the menu didn't mention it was fried so it was very rich, dense and squishy with a cheese sauce and a few asparagus sprigs... totally oily again, my mouth felt like an oil slick and relatively tasteless. The menu failed to mention that the shrimp in my girlfriend's shrimp and crab tagliatelle was not de-shelled so she spent most of the meal trying to pull the casing off the shrimp which was fiddly and off-putting for her and me with nothing provided to put the shell casings in or water to wash her fingers. The portion size was erratic, hers was far bigger than mine with more in the way of ingredients and she had twice the amount of butter with the soup. It took two hours to eat 2 courses so extremely slow service with about 40 minutes between servings. With 2 glasses of red wine, 2 x 2 courses and a sparkling water, it came to £53 so not inexpensive... I expected much more for the price and had a much more enjoyable time the year before when the menu options were more varied and the portion sizes were much balance and the food actually a lot better. The staff were friendly and the pub itself is nice, although poor lighting meant I could barely see my food. And the smelly dog laying on the floor nearby was off-putting. Frankly a pretty appalling and very disappointing visit, easily the worst in the area and I am a frequent visitor to pubs in this part of Hampshire. I will not return and warn anyone from taking the risk as I don't think this is a one off, my colleague has also had a poor experience here recently. Poor value for money Very poor food Limited menu Slow but polite service In my opinion, dogs shouldn't be allowed in restaurants, particularly smelly ones, but some may disagree Wouldn't recommend on any level
