If I'm honest this is possibly one of the worst hotels I have stayed in for a really long time. I have stayed in more than 1000 hotels in 45 different countries. On arrival we had an issue because the reception team were trying to check my cousin Michael into our rooms. Thankfully our receptionist figured it all out, much to my cousin's relief. Having booked two rooms, one for myself and partner and one for my 82 year old mother we were told that we couldn't be on the same floor. I wouldn't mine but they literally checked another cousin into a room on the same floor as my mum under an hour apart. We had to call housekeeping up immediately as it hadn't been cleaned. We missed the fact that they hadn't left any mugs to make coffee with. If this had been it, I might have left a 3 star review and told them just to sort their housekeeping out. However, on the Saturday night we arrive back at 11:50pm and were kept waiting for 10 minutes to get into the hotel. We headed up to our rooms only to find a drunk man passed out blocking my mum's door. I took her down to our room whilst we went to get help. We were told there was no security on and the girl behind the desk said she couldn't sort it. Eventually, the night manager came, Martin. We asked him to resolve the situation and to call us in our room when it was OK to take my mum back up to her room. 30 minutes go by, it is now close to 1am and no news. So we headed back down. We were told that he had had more important priorities than letting us know what was going on and to make an 82 year old feel safe in his hotel. I told him that surely the most important priority is making customers feel safe. None of it as their fault and when I told him to stop raising his voice to me he burst into tears. We swapped my mum into our room to make her feel safer and we slept in hers as we were told there was no security. Next time call the police. Would I stay here again - Never Would I recommend it - Hell no. Overpriced, filthy hotel that basically caters to drunks on nights out. And please- before a member of the front desk team thanks me for the learning experience, please actually learn. I am not the first, nor will I be the last, given the shocking customer service experience both myself and so many guests have experienced.
Great place for a weekend stay near Peak District and in the centre of Derby. Lovely and hospitable service at the reception and during breakfast. The parking was full at 6pm and it was highly inconvenient that we were expected to park in a different car park which was 15 min door to door on foot. This was extremely inconvenient as we were travelling with babies in buggies and the weather was 0 degrees Celsius. The breakfast was disappointing. The lady who attended us upon arrival at the restaurant was extremely kind and also helpful with our baby. She brought a highchair immediately. Would have been great to have Halal options in the buffet. The room's ventilation/air con system needs deep cleaning as it caused our dust allergy to flare up badly. It must have been so dirty and left unmaintained that we couldnt sleep from sneezing the whole night. Very unfortunate and disappointing. Won't be returning.
The hotel is very conveniently located for an easy walk to the city centre. Chapel Street car park is nearby and cost £8.30 total for a 2 night stay with the hotel discount. There is underground parking at the hotel but I believe it's more expensive. The rooms look a little outdated but can't fault the staff. Special shout-out to Alex who gave me another room and helped me move at 2am when the couple next door were being extremely...intimate 8th floor of the hotel is very quiet as only a few rooms on that floor.
Worse night sleep I've ever had. Arrived checked in, went to room found heating in room wasn't working. Mentioned at reception who said sorry we wasn't told heating in room not working but there is a fire or fan we can use. Two other group of friends staying there wasn't told either. In my view unacceptable. The heater warmed up the room but as unable to control temperature of room overnight, room was either cold or red hot ! Both pillows and bed are very firm and bed is too. Asked at reception to see if we could get soft pillows, I was told they'd try to sort that out. Unfortunately as too late to book anywhere else and event in Derby is this evening, I'm hoping to get some sleep tonight.
Hotel location is excellent not far from town centre. Breakfast selection is good but wish breakfast service was later or with option to take breakfast to room. Parking is not too bad but wish Parking was included when staying. Felt understaffed at times as phone keep ringing through to bar / kitchen.Rooms: 3/5
Have just returned from an overnight stay as a little treat for my sisters birthday. Not only was the hotel really lovely , smart and comfortable but it was without a doubt the staff that made it for us. Over and above what we could hope for. We would like to say a personal thank you to Claudia on reception and Imogen also Lenuta in the bar restaurant. Apologies to those we didnt get your names. All staff were excellent and an asset to the company.
Stayed in this hotel in April a day before my wedding due to it being close to the venue. Location is good and the lobby is actually high quality, the Rooms are a little basic and small tho. the under ground carpark doesn't have a lift to the hotel, this was a big inconvenience as I had 10-20 bags to carry for context it's a little walk up a hill to get to reception A quick fix would be to get some trolleys. I value the hotel at £50-£70 which from memory is what I paid
Found the room well comfortable and clean with enough coffee for me to enjoy the rest of my day. Very polite staff specially Claudia who went above and beyond to make my stay very enjoyable and relaxed. Thank youRooms: 5/5
Location was great for access to the centre however, it was opposite a main busy, noisy road. Room was very basic and cold. I could not get the heating to work... Service? I didn't see anyone who worked there the whole weekend??Rooms: 3/5
If you want quality, this is definitely not the place! Shower was covered in black mould and the breakfast was heavily undercooked and poor quality. 2 drinks at the bar also came up to £27.90 as well!
