Don't waste your time. Go to 2 Wheels Only, who actually know their stuff & are efficient... I wanted the gear type changing, & the front brake spring pushing back in. That's it. I was quoted £30 I was told to drop my bike in on Monday. I asked when it'd be done & they said Thursday/ Friday - not sure why they asked me to drop it down on Monday, especially as they're closed on Tuesday. I called on Thursday for an update & they said it should be ready on Friday. On Friday they text me to say it'd be ready 1st thing Saturday. Saturday I called to confirm it was ready to collect & the Saturday worker had no idea what was going on. Eventually he told me it was ready & the bill was £80! I asked why they didn't think to contact me before doing more work to say the bill had almost tripled & they had no answer. I asked for a run down of what each bit of work cost & this couldn't be provided. I asked to speak to the manager & I was told they'd have to contact them then get back to me. I asked if they'd be calling me back with what was said, & he didn't know? No call back. The next day, still no contact was made. Another day later they text me to say the bike was ready, and they would reduce the bill to £50 - still £20 above their quote of £30. Deflated enough and already without my bike for 8 days, I paid it. Turns out they did work I didn't even ask for no wonder the bill was so high!. They changed my back brakes, which didn't even need doing. When I rode my bike I realised they didnt even fit them properly and my brakes are stuck on. Theyre absolutely useless. 2 Wheels said the work that I asked for would be around £45 & take 1-2 hours - transparent prices, how it should be!. Dave Owen Cycles are a bunch of useless "mechanics" who between the lot of them I was told they all did work on my bike can't even do a job properly. They are deceitful with their pricing and so, so slow. Communication is awful in terms of mixed communication, & how they chose to contact me. Should have listened to what others have said about them
This was a fantastic experience for our little boy. We booked 3 lessons, and thats all it took to start riding. Sam, his teacher was amazing, friendly and gave lots of encouragement. Would highly recommend.
On my first visit here I was very pleased with the service I received for a repair on my bike. Friendly staff, quick turnaround on the repair and reasonably priced. I would recommend.
Friendly personal service. Great price. Quick service backed up with after sales support. Happy to support local business that does so much for the community. Number 1 for bike selection, repair, service and experience.
So glad i found Dave Owen cycles. Very professional and honest service. Great value. They gave my old apollo mountain bike a new lease of life. Would highly recommend.
Dave Owens is worth every penny. Prior to visiting here I took my bike to the likes of Halfords where it was overpriced and staff were only concerned with sales. However, here the staff go above and beyond providing outstanding customer service with genuine care for customers. Along with great prices and the repair time being quicker than anticipated. I will definitely be returning here, thank you very much.
Shopped here for years. Purchased several bikes for me and my growing daughter. Got all my accessories including large baby/child seat which they also fitted. They Have it fully serviced here every year, which was cheaper than ‘another bike shop’. Keep getting my punctures sorted here, in the end they showed me how to take wheel off and do my own Took my daughter here to learn how to ride a bike, they really encouraged her and she was thrilled she did it. Took her back later when she had bike with gears and they gave her lesson on how to use them. Then this week, after years and years and a lot of money I won 2 new tyres although I purchased new bike in July and also got my old one done up and safe in August!
The items they sell are very overpriced, sometimes second hand and could be damaged. It is a risk if you give them your bike for repair because their work is not reliable. The service does not even deserve a comment. They tried to sell me a simple small hanger, which was second hand and severely damaged taken from a bicycle junkyard and on double the price compared to a brand new one. Very disappointing. That is why I left them and went to HALFORDS. At Halfords, I received excellent service, new parts, and normal prices.
As requested by Dave's cycles after my general enquiry, I took my bike in to get a more accurate quote to have secondary brakes fitted on 8th July. I was very happy with the price quoted & they were happy for me to supply said brakes. When I took my bike in for the brakes to be fitted I was asked if I had been given a quote by a different person who originally quoted me when told him the price he said it was wrong and doubled the price saying I'd only been quoted to fit one brake!!!!!! Who would only have one brake fitted?????? I wasn't happy with this 'new' price and I was told that Dave would ring me to 'sort the price out'. He never did. They had my bike for a week and when I called to see if it had been done I'd not heard off them at all I was told that the brakes I had supplied couldn't be fitted. Ok, fair enough, they asked me if I wanted them to order some in and try again and were willing to honour the original price I was quoted for fitting with the additional cost of the brakes. They were keeping my bike until the brakes arrived. The order was placed 20th July. I collected my bike after leaving it with them for another week, after not hearing off them again. I messaged them again on 8th August to ask if the brakes had come in, no apparently not due to Covid 19, fair enough. It's now 30th September and I have not heard off them since 8th August. I'm guessing they don't want my custom! Very poor service, which is a shame as I wanted to support a local business.
Super helpful guy, helped us with a replacement jockey wheel whilst we were touring!
