I was going to get some footwear today, and I just came here to check the opening times. I noticed the reviews. Don't the management care that it's a low rating? Aren't they bothered that the store is being run badly? Just imagine what it would be like if not just sports direct, but every business and retail outlet was run in this way.
The GAME inside this SportsDirect is one I actively visit to check out what's available, the staff for the game section are always on it and friendly. I can't speak for the sportsdirect experience but the shop itself has had a massive visual improvement since the move.
Service is non existent. Even when you ask for it. Staff just want to be on their phones. Customers pay your wages.
Loud terrible music being pumped out. Not many members of staff. Hadn't got several items in my size. Not as many product lines as in the old store. Didn't really seem to care.
Shop sharing with 'game' has cost them a chunk of functional space and has impacted some of the availability. Add this to a less than useful website that can't monitor local stock levels and it leads to a poor shopping experience compared to other highstreet brands.
Purchased a fitness tracker from the shop, assistant said it was easy to set up, 24 hours later still trying. Went on the website for the watch, an Everlast hr active. Found the reviews were low marked. Give it a miss.
Wanted to buy some water shoes. Every different colour was on a different deal. Found 2pairs of identical size shoes just different colours. One was 2for£11 and one was 2for £13 I asked if I could buy them both in the 2for £13 deal and was told flatly no. I've spoken to head office who say they have choice about what deals they do. Disappointed as they were just being awkward.
The store was just as densely laid out as previously and only one till was operational. Although they had what I wanted at a good price I left without purchasing anything because I didn't want to stand in a long queue to pay. I didn't feel safe.
After a long drive, I arrived store at 5:15pm and noticed the entrance door was locked - the closing time at the website and also at the store window was 5:30pm! After staying few minutes outside, I saw someone inside and enquired him about it. “We need to close the store at 5:15 so that we have time to clean the store”, he replied. As said by one of reviewers, staff are never bothered to serve you!!
What an absolute pleasure to visit this store today! A friendly greeting at the door, then assisted and advised by a lovely young man. I had very specific requirements and he immediately knew which trainers would be perfect. Social distancing adhered to and not too long to wait to be served.
