Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to access any services other than A&E as of late so all of the pressure falls on to the hospitals. I had to bring my son here as a last resort and they were amazing. Very thorough and friendly and didn't fall short of providing the care my son needed, regardless of the almighty challenges they face. Very grateful to have this service and thank you for everything you do.
I had endoscopy done today by Nurse lead clinician. All the staff there were most helpful and oblidgeing . The endoscopy nurses were very professional, courteous and informed me of the procedure in detailed. I was most impressed by their skill and knowledge and precision in carrying out the task. The nurses took great care to allay any anxiety I may have and reassuring me throughout the endoscopy step by step until the procedure is completed. They also explained to me the result in user friendly language. They have advised me on diet and lifestyle issues. My wife who was waiting in reception were given cups of tea and biscuits! What more can one ask, such excellent care and service! Great NHS and all the staff are WORTH IT! Thank you once again from a most grateful patient! Mark Lee 9 Nov.2022.
My brother was admitted to this hospital via A&E A few weeks ago it was excellent. They took blood test x-ray within 35 minutes. It was put onto oxygen he had pneumonia sepsis, low blood pressure. The nurses in the doctors were fantastic. He was in hospital for eight days recovered and came out a few days ago. Thank you to all the doctors and the nurses that took care of him without them, he would’ve died
If your child is sick highly recommend. Pediatrics will have brain storm before they will start treatment. Of course always you will find black sheep so keep your eyes wide open. Children's ward very well prepared for little ones. Outdoor playground, playroom, corridors with toys, nursr will prepare toys for your child and will bring to bed, also coming therapeutic dogs to comfort your child. Parents room with tea and coffee. They will give you spare nappy if you don't have. Bathroom painted with ocean animals, will give you towels. Food wise you will get breakfast, lunch and dinner and 2 times a day snacks.
Today 18/08/2022 I took my gran to Darent Valley Hospital to have a hip operation, this hip operation has been scheduled and cancelled for the past 5 years. Today my family and I took her to the hospital, my gran has been there since 11:15am and we got a phone call at 17:00pm from the hospital and we were told that her operation had been cancelled again! We arrived back at the hospital to pick her up, we were greeted by a lovely lady, Sue, she was even upset for us, she explained what had happened and called the surgeon. We are now trying to get my gran into a different hospital to get her hip replaced. We are not happy at all! The only reason I’ve rated the hospital 1 star is because of lovely Sue.
My mother was taken into A&E back in September and compared to her last episode a couple of years ago, this experience was a massive improvement which was good to see. The check in process was fairly short 1 hour to be seen by the doctor and the attending doctor was absolutely brilliant - she kept us appraised of the sequence of events and a timeline and stuck to those times. There were updates every 20 minutes which just never happened before. The nurses and staff were all very helpful and professional despite what must be punishing schedules. The only negative was having to spend the majority of time waiting in a hallway but at least it was clean and tidy. The whole process from arrival to discharge was around 4-5 hours and at no time did we feel abandoned or have to chase up anyone. They have clearly upped their game and fingers crossed it continues.
This was my first time at this hospital and definitely my last. I called 111 who said they would be sending an ambulance then was told there was 2.5hr wait so I should just get a cab to help free the service. Once I got to the hospital all started in the right direction I got blood test and a scan and I thought I would know what was going on only to be told I’m probably just constipated and to go home and take some painkillers and in a day or so I will be fine. Day later I’m back in a&e in the middle of the night in crippling pain being told there was a 5hr wait at 12:30am to see the doctor I waited until 4am being told I will get painkillers soon I then went round to nurse station and asked them was told to wait again and 30 mins later I was given a suppository to put in the toilet but the instructions say to lay down on your side and wait I then didn’t get seen until 12:30pm where I was told an infection was present and given antibiotics when I asked for painkillers to take home I was told that it wasn’t needed. Here I am writing this the next day sat in unbelievable pain without painkillers
I give this rating to the medical team who were very thorough. The waiting duration was 8.5 hours which is down to lack of funding not the A&E team or administration .The seating was chronic and painful and environment very cold. Car park £10 and unlike some I could afford it. T
I have heard complaints and negative comments about DVH also the Ambulance service. However, this was not my experience. We called an ambulance on 30th September, the crew were amazing taking care of me and reassuring my family. The doctors and nurses in A & E also were attentive calm and looked after me until my admission to AMU and then eventually transferred to Chestnut ward. The doctors nurses and "ALL' the staff were so busy and under intense pressure but still managed to stay cheerful and caring. I would just like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who took care of me between the 30 Sept and 5th October. You are all stars
I’m giving 3stars because about a week ago I visited the a&e department with an infection that made me vomit several times. At first I was seen fairly quickly by the nurse upon arrival and due to said infection I got referred to the covid ward quickly. I was seen too within half an hour of waiting for a covid test which fortunately came back negative and I was allowed to sit in the regular waiting room of A&E. I was advised that I would be waiting for 8hrs to be seen, which came as no surprise seeing as there was only one consultant who only done blood work on other patients with door wide open for everyone to see. It was freezing cold the whole time, waiting area was full of sick people who waited much longer than myself to be seen and rude reception staff who were mucking about not doing much work at all to get patients seen to. The toilets were filthy and shockingly the warmest place in there. I waited 3-4hrs and went back to reception to ask politely how long it would take to be seen and I was advised another 8hrs on top of the 3-4hrs I had already waited and then got a rude response that “other people are dying are the other side of this place you’re not the most important patient” which I understood but to respond so rude was shocking and after that comment I left to go home. Moral of the story, don’t go to A&E unless you’re just ready to die. Pull your socks up NHS…
