A great pub on St Michael's Hill, cracking Sunday lunches at a good price and a good selection of beers and ciders.
Friendly staff and good atmosphere for an afternoon football game on the Telly. Child friendly too!
What a fantastic pub. It is under sad circumstances that I discovered this pub - visiting my mother-in-law at the hospital accross the road - but it's a delight. Three very different rooms, all showing sport. On the day I visited they managed to show cricket, football, rugby, and keep everybody happy. The service is quick and friendly and the food was excellent.
One of my favourite spots for a nice pint near town. Not too expensive less than £5 for a lager and the beer garden is lovely in the Summer.
Lovely beer garden, but gosh have the prices hiked up! £6+ for a staropramen : Inflation gone nuts. Love it here though, the garden makes it.
Lovely place my six-year-old calls it the 'secret pub' because of the entrance through a wall into the beer garden. Fantastic Sunday roasts, great rest-of-the-week menu, and good beer. Garden is a really pleasant place to while away an hour or two, and the inside is cosy. Staff are cool, but in a friendly way
Nice lay out, friendly staff, not overly priced drinks, made very welcome. Going to go regularly on Monday nights for the quiz night.
I Wasn't too sure of this place when I looked it up mainly due to the photos online.. It looks like a real old gents pub and wasn't sure if it would have anybody intl there.. but on my first visit to meet a good friend I soon realised this is part of the character of the pub, old.. young everyone's in there having a time. Just nice people great atmosphere and lovely bar staff. A brief chat with the chef on the first NIGHT I was in and she said she doesn't mind working over if I'm needing food. That as first impressions is a nice touch. Today was my second visit just for a couple of after work drinks solo, I'd already eaten so wast looking for food but the smell from the kitchen was enough to entice a greedy Yorkshire man like myself to order again! I chose the Pork Poutine as I'd been recommended and... ....All I can say is comfort food!!! It reminds me of Cullen Skink, a smoked haddock winter warmer from the Highlands where I usually live, but not by taste, just the good feeling of eating something that makes you want to be at home eating in front of a movie. Lovely little venue with outside seating great staff throughout and a good bar menu, will definitely be back to try more of the menu!! Thank you! Excuse the photos.. it might not look worthy of a review but this is just good basic tasty food to be eaten and not just photographed for likes!!
Shocking customer service - I was given a pint which had a thick black hair on the head - asked for it to be re-served in a fresh glass as the bar tender let out a huff of irritation. If you work in hospitality, you need to be hospitable and asking for a pint to be served should go without question or attitude in this event. An apology would be appreciated.
Great wee busy pub. Lot's of board games if you fancy it and they do nice food.
