Had the pleasure of playing at this beautiful little pub with my band recently! It's truly a hidden gem in Bristol, well stocked bar with a traditional feel to it and a gorgeous snug main seating area which has multiple skylights, very good seating and a wonderful atmosphere. The bar manager was also a delight and made us feel so welcome and looked after. Will 100% be back there again for a quiet drink with the wife and would highly recommend the Eldon House to anyone making a visit to Bristol!
Matt is a very attentive landlord who clearly loves his pub. He really looks after his customers and serves great beer. The front of the pub is peaceful and sunny with a lovely view of a posh school.
Beautiful pub. Great venue, with some great bands/ duo's.
Adorably small and full of charm. More ale options would have been nice but as they only have a short life once opened its understandable if they can't get through it all.
Worst Sunday lunch I've ever experienced. Coupled with being underwhelming, tepid and overpriced we were rushed to finish our booked meal because they had a birthday bash booked for the same room and needed us to leave so they could continue removing all of the chairs and tables. Yes!. They had started doing this during our meal. The landlords response same landlord at the merchants arms, Hotwells when spoken with about it was that "you can't please everyone." Here's a suggestion.. don't double book your events room that you also use to serve food we would happily have eaten in the main bar area but we were ushered into your back room and make your patrons feel like they're somehow to blame, awkward or at fault. We were there due to a cancellation and recommendation from the legendary Rose of Denmark and foolishly expected a similar experience. The only similarity was the price. The landlord would do well to understand the true cost of something. I hope this review helps with that.
Very beautiful place. A classic pub. Totally local, cozy, friendly staff, great food and beautiful location. A hidden gem for people that doesn’t want to pay overpriced menus in touristic pubs
Sunday lunch was a bit institutional but a pleasant room and friendly service.
Couldn't have been more accommodating hosting our birthday party, great pub and beers. Scotch eggs second to none too! All the staff really friendly- a real hidden Clifton gem!
We went in bang on midday on a weekday asking for food & they basically opened the kitchen up just for us. We had hot dogs, burgers & chips, all tasty & a good price - I was pleased to be able to get a vegan hot dog. Really welcoming & accomodating staff, lovely pub.
Tasty roasts for a great price and some good live music to top off a Sunday.
