Story

Chris' is a family run takeaway business with shops in Rayleigh, Brentwood, Westcliff, and Chafford Hundred

We see our business as more than just a 'chippy', but an establishment that provides delicious, freshly cooked food to order as fast as we can. Our Jack Daniels style Tennessee BBQ ribs have built up something of a cult reputation among the locals, along with our fresh fish cooked in a very light, crisp batter.

Quite possibly the nicest fish and chips in Essex in my opinion! I have been using Chris's for years and have never had a bad meal. Tonight I had large cod and shared a large portion of chips with my Mrs who had a regular cod. Both bits of fish were enormous and absolutely delicious, pure white flakey fresh tasting cod in a light crispy batter. The chips were light and fluffy and equally delicious. It was not at all greasy just perfect fish and chips. The staff are always pleasant and polite. Excellent experience. Well done.
Extremely expensive for the portion size. The chips were nice but I would say half the size of a regular portion. We ordered food for four people and turned out to be about as expensive as going to a restaurant. At the end of the day these are potatoes cut up and fried, regardless of service charge and site fees and popularity it is still an in-expensive takeaway option and the price should reflect that.
Nice and friendly service by one of the guys. The younger guy I first got served by was a bit moody. First time I've been there and they recommended the ribs. The sauce was delicious and very generous. The rib meat was tasty and moist. Only thing I would say is if they allowed it to tenderise further it would have been perfect. A little bit chewy, but I'm very fussy. Chips were decent and I would definitely go back.

The lady who answered the phone is a liar telling people the food is on the way when it’s not and the driver they came today is rude not the usual delivery boy I used to get impolite and disrespectful guess that’s what happens when a good business is sold!
Love the Jack Daniels ribs in here and have been coming here for years. Now I live away from Essex I always try to come here when visiting family. Only downfall being it’s opening hours. Shuts very early and means we have to go elsewhere which is never as good.
Never had a bad meal from Chris' and tonight was worth a mention. I had the cod bites and they were perfect. I do not understand the negative reviews on here unless they are from owners of other local chippies. All the reviews on the local FB pages have been positive. The only negatives have been when Deliveroo have been used. When I used Deliveroo at Chris' they did not even collect my order and when I called the staff said it was still on the counter. Not Chris' fault but I will always use Chris' own delivery service now and it is cheaper :

Excellent fresh fish, chips and scampi, good portions, have been a customer for years and highly recommend.
Ordered on deliveroo and must say it was one of the best fish and chips we ever had. Main thing fish and chips were cooked in a fresh oil. Will definitely order again. Well done Chris' fish and chips!!!
