Reviews
I leave this review because of the quick processing of applications and the friendly agent I dealt with. Any fuss could only be due to not providing the correct information for them to process your visa.
Working abroad, I have had extensive experience of foreign embassies, consulates and visa centres and can say with absolute certainty that this place is the best anywhere. The online booking system is perfect, the lady on reception is incredibly efficient and wonderfully friendly. The staff are so professional and knowledgeable, you know you're in very safe hands. If you make enquiries before you go, your email will be responded to very quickly and efficiently. The negative reviews people have given this place are all because they didn't read or check what they needed first. They take all the stress out of applying for visas. Just perfect. Thank you Chinese Visa Application Service Manchester.
Most negative reviews on here are because people didn't read what you need to bring or because they didn't fill their application correctly. Assuming all that is right for me the centre was a breeze, took less than 30 mins of arriving and my passport was posted back within a week with the visa. One thing I would say though the website says to bring a photo if you couldn't upload it online. Bring the passport sized photo anyway as they require it even if you did managed to upload it. Luckily I brought mine but my friend had to use the photo booth for £6.
Assuming you have all your documentation the process is very swift and painless. We had an appointment booked for 1pm but truth is it doesn't seem to count for anything because it seems you can check in at anytime and get a ticket to wait. Do not forget to bring a recent passport photo! They still need them irrespective of the fact that you uploaded them when completing your online application. And also sign your completed application printout in the 2 places provided. Staff were very friendly, but expect short shrift if you adopt a privileged attitude with them because YOU did not read the requirements properly. We were in and out in 20 minutes despite it being packed.
Took half an hour to file paperwork and complete the appointment. Staff were polite and efficient. Make sure you have a physical passport photo in addition to your e picture, I took mine just in case so was OK, but most other people had not and had to pay £6 extra. Best place I found to park was Charles Street off sackville Street. £3 for 3 hours
We used to be able to go here on the day with form in hand. First come first serve, you get a ticket and wait. Well not anymore. You need to go online, go to their website make sure you go to the Manchester one, as the website is worldwide. A 10 page form is to be filled in, there are some very detailed questions. You need to upload a recent photograph has to have a white background, a slight shade of grey is not acceptable. Print the form out, and then make an appointment of choice before you get here. We made a very early appointment to avoid the crowd ... we were wrong. We arrived to be greeted with a queue spilling out onto the pavement outside. We thought we made the right choice to make the appointment. Having ask around, it seems that everyone one else has the same 9.30 am appointment !! So basically, it is the same first come, first serve system. Instead, you get to choose when you come to queue ... pathetic ! Anyway, the staff are friendly enough. When query about the situation, they just gave a knowing smile, apologize and said they were doing their best as there are so many applicants. It is obvious they need a better system. A first come , first serve system is not prefect but it is as good as it get. But why camouflage it to be an appointment system giving false hope to people. We arrive 9.30 am, left 11.30 am. What is has improved ? You tell me.
First you need to queue in order to get a number. There you are informed that you should have brought a photocopy of your passport and a paper photo even if you uploaded one on the website so you are advised to go to the library to copy I needed to print off my invitation letter too and come back to use their photo kiosk to get the photos. When you are ready you realise that the queue is massive and that you will run out of parking time 2 hours max. Then you go back to the same lady by overtaking the whole queue and ask if you need to queue once more? She says you needn't and you get your number in 5 minutes. Then you sit down and wait. In about 10-15 minutes you can hand in your paperwork to the officer and after some questions and recording your fingerprints you can pay the fee and you are ready. Job done. Stressful. It could have been much easier if they had informed you in advance about additional documents such as copy of your passport and recent ID photo.
service good overall , helpful staff , you need to have all the paperwork ready, very busy office. I thought I had everything but still wasnt enough. We needed a photocopy of the passports main page , and as we were being invited by a Chinese national to visit we needed a copy of their ID card , back and front, so we had to go to the library to print off emails with these photos etc. After that we were fine. One or two people had to re- do the whole form as they had not put their middle names in the right boxes.
A lot of people wait in the line so its very important to bring all the documents needed and in order. There is printer/scanner and a place to take passport photos which is very useful. But overall the staff was really nice, friendly and helpful which I appreciate a lot because you can see they deal with many people all the time and it can get stressful sometimes. Also there is a seating place for waiting, water to drink and everything seems to run smoothly and in order. Happy with the visit, would def recommend this place for getting a visa
If you have an appointment, great, but if you need a visa urgently and all the appointment slots are booked, then you're done for. The place itself is fine but the appointment booking process is not up to scratch and does not reflect how busy they are. If someone cancels their appointment, and you want that slot, the staff will request you to book via their website however you cannot physically book an appointment for the current day making it impossible to get a visa from here urgently. It was only with luck someone cancelled their slot for a future date that I were able to book an appointment.
