We went here for an office Christmas meal and it was very nice. The atmosphere is amazing. Very nice, warm and cozy interior. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very flavorsome. The reason why I am giving 4 out of 5 starts for food is, the hunters chicken main was not hot and more on the cold side. Other than that, everything else was perfect. I'd highly recommend this venue for a meal out, office/ birthday party. Thank you.
We had a really delicious lunch on Saturday to celebrate our anniversary at The Chequers, and from the set menu. Wonderful flavour and great texture. This really is one of my favourite restaurants and yes, I have eaten several times at l'Ortolan, the Waterside Inn, Bray and the Savoy amongst other Michelin star restaurants. Well worth the 30mile drive Parking: Plenty of off-road parking.
I recently dined at The Chequers which was a very enjoyable experience. Having visited a number of times some years ago, I had only dined once under the current chef and management until this visit. There was good service and delicious food on our very reasonably priced Tasting Menu, my friend had the vegan version and we were both very impressed. We had an interesting talk with Chef whose skills are commendable and I am looking forward to my next visit. I highly recommend you visit.
Super quality food. Beautifully presented. I took my wife there for our wedding anniversary as a special treat. We were not disappointed. The service was exceptional and the owner / manageress treated us and from what I could see from nearby tables, like royalty. I certainly will not wait for a special occasion to return to this 1st class restaurant. We'll done.
Service - 3/5 Taste - 3/5 Presentation - 4.5/5 Experience - 3/5 On the final day of our honeymoon, before returning to work, we decided to indulge in the tasting menu at the Chequers inn. Filled with enthusiasm and excitement for a tasting menu close to home, we left feeling somewhat deflated. The good bits: The courses were well presented, as one would expect from a tasting menu. Nibbles and first course were good tomato and feta salad The Wellington was tasty and well presented. The not so good bits: Honestly, I was expecting a little more. The service wasn't great I was given a Heineken when ordering a Moretti, the owner/manager only acknowledged our existence when taking payment for our meal. The flavour was lacking and it was obvious cheap ingredients were used viz-a-viz the bland mushroom risotto utilising button mushrooms as opposed to a mushroom of the wild or exotic variety. The ganache lacked flavour and punch, M&S do better. For the price of £60 per head, it wasn't terrible, however, I had hoped for more!
Tried the Tasting Menu and not disappointed at all. In this way, I've found my favourite dishes and know what to order next time. Looking forward to go back there again.
Fabulous food. Cheerful and attentive service. I have dietary limitations and am so often disappointed, but not this time.
This could not have been a more perfect evening! We came for my dad's 70th birthday and what a night we had! Attentive, yet unobtrusive service with excellent food - in fact we couldn't believe how the time flew! We can't wait to return!
Went last night the vegetarian selection was fabulous The plates looked like fine art and tasted magical A gem of a place with attentive and knowledgeable staff and a relaxed atmosphere Vegetarian options: As a vegetarian I felt the food was inspired and not an afterthought as it can be at other restaurants Beautifully presented and melted in the mouth The chefs are the best of the best at popping your taste buds Kid-friendliness: Tables spaced apart so children are accommodated and not a distraction to other dinner’s friendly family atmosphere Parking: Car park at back and plenty of off street parking if needed Dietary restrictions: Absolute care taken by waiting staff on allergens and any dietary requirements
We had an incredibly dinner. Our main was the beef rib which was delicious! The staff are tentative and the atmosphere was perfect for a date night.
