This place is a pure gem! The hotel is stunning, I only ate breakfast and everything that you could have hoped for was offered. Everyone was brilliant and made my stay perfect.
Way past it's prime, really uncomfortable bed, tiny room, that didn't feel clean and i've seen larger bathrooms on aeroplanes. The only redeeming feature was a nice breakfast in the morning, but couldn't wait to get home.
Travelling with colleagues and booked this hotel believing it to be 4 star. Not 4 star by a long shot, the decor is dated to say the least. Very tacky and very banged up furniture in the rooms, curtains falling down and standalone electric heaters which really are not safe for this purpose. The beds caved in in the middle and were not comfortable. All in all the only thing that saved this review from being 1 star was that the morning reception staff were professional and did their best to make up for the lack of luxury in a supposedly luxury boutique hotel.
We had a delicious afternoon tea. The staff were lovely and attentive. A beautiful, atmospheric dining room.Service: 5/5
First room given was freezing floor moved and two old fans to heat the room Breakfast was limited choice and when ordering d told no salmon or cream cheese so only options left were full English and continental. Had to ask for juices to be filled up and mire bread for toast.Rooms: 2/5
Really disappointing. Went for a special celebration meal. The leek and potato soup was clearly just powdered and very salty. The main course of Irish stew had 3 or 4 pieces of meat at most. Two of our companions had no meat pieces at all. The sweets were also a great disappointment. To add to the misery of the evening the heating d wasn't working, and no one from the hotel thought that an apology or explanation was needed. Won't be recommending a visit to anyone.
Good towels and linen, the bathroom was clean and modern with a heated towel rail. The manager on shift explained that there was a wedding taking place during our stay. This was not a problem until the next morning. Upon check in the lady on reception took our breakfast order and didn’t specify only 1 item for the price, we thought we could order all we wanted, this wasn’t the case. Arriving into the breakfast hall where we weren’t greeted, but presented with grubby and marked unclothed tables which were left over from the wedding. The manager arrived to check for our order, first he couldn’t actually see our order. He then returned to tell us that we weren’t allowed to order more than one item, so we all decided to go with the vegetarian full English. This is where the manager then decided to return and make a strange remark about the fact we asked for the French toast as it had bacon on the side, which was fine, as one of the group would have eaten it felt quite standoffish and a bit sarcastic. We had the option to get the continental breakfast which was poor, no jug of milk for coffee, which was seen on other tables, the lack of juice which was never filled up whilst we were there, also not yogurts or nice breads. Once the breakfast arrived it looked pretty, but for the price of 14.95 you were expecting quite a feast, the veggie sausage was hard and overdone, the hash brown was gritty, the scrambled eggs were okayish, but doesn’t equal the overall price. The manager came and I explained this to him, no apologies or willing to swap for another meal, again felt uncomfortable to deal with him. Checking out was a hassle as there was an obvious short staff problem as there was no one to be found, I went to look for the manager and he then, again, quite rudely said there were only 2 staff on, no apologies or anything. Overall it is a good location to the main city centre and parking but the venue itself needed dusting, cleaning of windows and more staff.
Had a lovely stay here in between houses. I was allowed to bring my dog who was treated kindly by all of the staff. The team couldn't have been more helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and I appreciated having an ornamental fireplace which was a good spot to put the dog bowl so it didn't go on the carpet. The floor I was on was quiet and it was easy to get a good night's sleep. Only let down really was performance of WiFi which was explained to me and is something they are dealing with. I was also given an option to use a better WiFi for work in the lobby, which I didn't need as used hotspot. The hotel is well-placed and in the nicer area of the city, the building itself is amazing. I used the carparking discount for the Parksafe and for the length of my stay, the overall parking cost was pretty reasonable.
We there celebrating a birthday a party of 9 with 5 rooms. The staff were very accommodating telling us about the history of the place. Fabulous breakfast too. Would definitely stay againRooms: 4/5
Lovely quaint city centre boutique hotel. Beautiful architecture and cosy rooms. Just a few niggles, our bedside lamp wasn't working and the service was a little hit n miss. It's the only hotel I've stayed in when "number 2" on the ceiling Rooms: 4/5
