After reading some reviews, I was a bit dubious going to the Cable Station Inn but as we were staying next door, we thought we'd give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised...the food and drinks were lovely and the staff were very helpful. It isn't a traditional pub but it is still nicely decorated and clean. We've been back a few times during our stay in Porthcurno.
You can expect a friendly welcome at this independent pub offering local beers and basic pub food. The decor is certainly a little dated and the food isn't the best in the area but I have to say I felt happier and more welcome there then many of the other places nearby. They also made my friends very welcome on closing night of their show at the Minack.
Doesn't quite look much but wonderful! Staff are fabulous! Spent a week at Minack theatre and went there every night after the show. Served food until the early hours ! and never kicked us out! So grateful to Mick and his crew PS Tribute was fab even in a Skinners glass
Just above porthcurno beach within walking distance nearly opposite the main car park. It was quiet when we visited at around lunch time. Service was very good and the food was very good too. I think the layout of the pub and use of the space could be improved to attract more customers.
The food was ok, but the owner was very friendly and helped us with good food also helped with local information. Cost wise its normal and very big place, separate playing area for kids and adults. Well maintain, if you want to spend some quality time with friends after Minack Theatre visit.
Really good baked goods - absolutely gorgeous rocky road and brownies! Super friendly staff and good location for the beach and the bus stop. The house itself though could do with some more TLC and probably needs to find itself - decide what it’s supposed to be. It’s called an inn, setup more like a pub and menu seems more like a cafe.
We stayed one night here during a bike trip from st ives and back. It’s a great place all around, room was lovely and very clean. The inn has a kitchen for self service as well and has really everything you need at a very decent price. The owner is very friendly and made us feel welcome. Breakfast in the morning was great as well. They don’t have an website so you need to call to make a booking, they are not crowded at all. Definitely recommend!
Best kept secret in Cornwall! We stopped in for a meal before going to the Minack theatre thinking surely this isolated nothing flash. Wow were we wrong, we got the lamb shank special made from local produce perfectly cooked! The bar staff were friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home. I felt like we were eating in someone's kitchen as opposed to a bar in the English countryside
Very friendly, good beer, wholesome and hearty food, not really a pub or Inn, more of a social club for the little village of Porthcurno. Feels like a social club too, but that's fine. After a walk along the Southwest Coast Path the perfect place to relax and eat. There's nothing else in Porthcurno except the beach and brilliant museum, especially no shop or place for basic provisions. Don't expect a five star premium pub, it's a warm and friendly social club. Still recommended.
Perfectly adequate pub. Standard pub meal selection but with impressively large desserts. Also does breakfasts and afternoon teas as well. Perfect for holiday fare after coming off of the beach.
