"Friendly village pub, serving a selection of ciders, lagers and Cask Marque ale. With a secluded beer garden at the rear of the property and ample parking, as well as on street parking within walking distance. Easily accessible with a ramp to the front entrance. 06/2022 - I should come here more often than I do. The beer is always in prime condition, the staff affable and the food beyond reproach. On this particular Sunday, I stopped for the Sunday roast. The lamb was a trifle more done than I prefer, but I was late in the day. However, the presentation was superb- they do things a 'little differently' at the Butchers Arms. Over the years since living in the area since 1991 I've only stopped by at this tavern on occasion, noticing as I did so each time, a change of management. Other than by a few local die hards, it didn't seem all that popular. A recent visit specifically to scan the certificate of the Cask Marque Ale Trail. The establishments who qualify for this accreditation, are amongst the top 18,000 of some 50,000 who can guarantee a perfect pint - most, if not every time. Again I noticed another change of management and there's more enterprise in this new team. New outs tables front and back, an outside bar to the rear a bit more spic and span and it's far more patronised now than on any of my other visits The beer is still deserving the Certificate and the menu has extrapolated with a quantum leap and there's quite a few novel dishes. Sunday Roast is a very popular, a reservation affair, if you want to be assured of a table. This tavern, on my way home the pretty way has become a regular repeat visit.
Brilliant new staff! Warm, welcoming and a lovely pub. Can't wait to see what they will bring to the area. Dog friendly and overall great place for a pint
Excellent little pub, with very good real ales -one served straight from the barrel when we were there.
A lovely traditional friendly pub with garden. Regular bands and singers, great tasting food and a decent range of drinks including cask ales.... All run by a class act Mark and Annie. We have had some of the best times at the Butcher's Arms . Definitely worth swinging by for a few pints and some grub
A lovely homely pub that is conveniently situated in easy reach of the local villages. Wonderful home cooked food, presented beautifully on the plate. Excellent customer service as well. I get the sense that this is a real credit to the local area, as it appears they do quiz nights and other community spirited activities. A thoroughly enjoyable visit.
Had a lovely Sunday roast lamb dinner with all the trimmings. My wife had ham egg & chips with thick cut ham, free range eggs & very tasty home made chips. All washed down with a pint of draught bass.
Good hard working community pub. Popular with locals; always something on. As a CAMRA groupie, can't say the range of ales sets the world on fire, but the inevitable Butcombe is always well kept. Haven't eaten, but suspect the fare is good. The Butchers is the sort of place we need to support as pubs like this are disappearing fast. Respect.
Went for Thursday Steak Night, the welcome was warm and friendly. The steak was one of the best I have had in a long time, cooked perfectly with nice big chips and a good bottle of red wine. Enjoyed it so much we are going again this week. Well worth a visit.
Took part in the weekly quiz night and bingo. Great fun. A wide variety of questions from Rob and Mark and Annie were great hosts
Popped in for early evening dinner and their pub quiz night. Food was lovely had Gammon with all trimmings service was good and beer spot on Doombar. The four of us had a great evening in a good old traditional pub
