We intended to visit The Weston after moving to Newbridge Road. Unfortunately, it closed soon after we did. A couple of days before our house goes its separate ways, three of us headed down to the pub for a couple of drinks. When we decided to order takeaway, the landlord was highly accommodating and we ordered a fantastic meal to the garden. The weather being fantastic certainly helped matters, but everyone we spoke to was kind and interesting. Had such a great night here.
We visited here on a Tuesday lunchtime and were delighted to discover that they serve a carvery every weekday, it was really lovely to sit down mid week and have a roast dinner which we haven’t had to prepare. The person who served us was also helpful and polite.
Amazing food and customer service whould love to go again as so delicus
So looking forward to the reopening of this pub, we loved going there when Karen was running the place and have missed it since closing suddenly last year. We went there last night 2 days after the reopening, terrible! The atmosphere is dreadfull, the bar feels unclean, the landlord sits at the bar downing pint after pint. They have put a pool table where once there was a relaxing sofa area and they even have a fruit machine just to really lower the tone. It's gone from a quality establishment that had a great vibe, lovely food, relaxed atmoshpere to a dive that will have a few old soaks propping up the bar. Totally disappointed
My partner and I went here to watch Eng vs Bel on the 28/06. First impressions were average, some parts of the pub were clearly recently renovated but others were a little drab, some of the seating for example. Anyway, it was relatively quiet and had two screens plus a vegan option good for my partner so we were happy to stay. The beer was fine as was the service. I was unlucky in that a couple were ahead of me but proceeded to buy a dozen drinks. Not the staffs fault mind. I was on lager and if I had one complaint, the beer was quite warm. It was a particularly hot night so I'm not sure if that had an impact on the cellar. The real star though, was the food. My partners Chickpea Hotpot was fragrant, flavourful and generously portioned. I've had half a dozen different Mushroom and Halloumi burgers but this was by far the best. We also got a portion of chips which ended up being overkill given the portion sizes. These were also great, a large portion and season with cracked pepper and sea salt. Other customers food also looked great. In short - the food was 6 out of 5. Honestly the mains could have been double the price and I'd not have felt cheated. Everything else was 3 to 4. The landlord absolutely must must must keep hold of the chef. We happily go again for food but might skip if it was just for drinks.
I see the owner's have totally ignored my comments because they haven't even commented on my review well done 6/3/2019. Have lived in the local area for a long time but have never been in this pub but I'm glad that I didn't the staff and their friends became very aggressive towards me and ask me to leave and when I didn't leave as quickly as they liked they started to try to pick a fight with me and square up to me in the pub I asked them what was the problem and why they were being funny towards me no reason was given I think they were either all drunk or on drugs not sure which I didn't go there to be abused by people that I've never seen before all met I went there for a quiet drink. I think that if I go back there again at some point in the future hopefully those people won't be running it anymore and if I do maybe I should take a mouth Shield and some boxing gloves. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone
Very very nice welcoming pub. Landlady and landlord were pleasant and extreemly polite. Very nice Sunday carvery with plenty of choice and pleasantly HOT. Would highly recommend this place....we will be back.
A very huge Sunday roast = good value...my son and I xl'd it for less than £12 ....staff lovely and welcoming .and I didn't complain = mum was pleased
Not very many people on a six Nations night which is both good and bad but only 1 awkwardly angled TV. More TVs and food offering would make this place much better.
The food was good, seating could of been better with newer seats, but besides that not a bad pub to meet up with friends.
