I love this place. There is a good range of artwork, including a Turner and a Lowry. A fab Japanese sculpture enshrines the centre of the gallery. There is also 2 shops and a nice cafe. For me this place could be made better by a change of layout. They tried to fit in a museum downstairs but the area is too small and seems lost. This should be a special collections gallery instead, or the shop / cafe should be down there releasing space upstairs in the gallery area

Modern art has destroyed what used to be a nice art gallery. Wouldn’t waste my time going to be honest.

Not what it used to be I used to visit as a kid and loved to downstairs part of the museum it's now very modernistic and changed dramatically. There are still some of the older paintings but lots more tests now on the very modern which is not to my taste.

Please support this gallery by visiting it's shop, café, paintings (do you like e.g. Turner?), and its local history section. Bury is much more than Bury Market!

A great building and free admission. They don't display all their great paintings however in order to make room for modern installations. Such works are beloved of art curators but of little interest to the general public.
