Brilliant local history museum with friendly knowable staff. It's only open on a Tuesday 10.30 to 3.30 but well worth a visit. Free entry with plenty to see inside. One of the most impressive parts is the court room upstairs, it really is a credit to all those who restored it back to it's former state after being closed up for so many years.

Fantastic local history museum a five minute walk from the city centre, although they only open on a Tuesday it's well worth a visit. With helpful and knowledgeable staff this makes it a great way to spend an hour or two. Be sure to visit the courtroom upstairs which is fully accessible if you have mobility problems.

Excellent educational day out. Lots and lots to see. I was really amazed with the facilities and the staff. A little hard to find so give yourself time to park and walk. Really enjoyable day out.

Go here. Do not miss it. A simple but well put togther museum. You can see the volunteers who run in period costumes. They all have fabulous knowledge about the items on display and the stories of the crimes they were used in! Don't miss the courtroom upstairs once you have seen the cells, if you're lucky you can see real police officers undegoing court training. If you do take time to sit and listen. Considering it is free it is somewhere not to be missed. Also walk around the outside of the building as it still has the origional stonework details. Check opening times carefully as it was only open one day a week when I was there. Was a great find and easy to get to.
