Really warm friendly welcome on arrival and very pleasant and attentive service from the member of staff in the bar so that was all a good start. Have stayed in the hotel a number of times so no surprises re room etc. Decent size, thought the toiletries had been improved am a bit choosy and rarely use the hotel offerings but these were good. Bathroom in particular bath panel slightly shabby and could do with repairing but shower was hot and powerful so that ticks the boxes. Dinner was fine, good choice on the set menu and the house wine as decent quality. Would be nice to be offered some bread with the starter or maybe I just stay in too many French places where it's a given.... Breakfast slightly disappointing in terms of the 'continental' offering. Lots of Mercure hotels make a feature of using local produce so maybe this is something the hotel could think about, particularly for example jams/honey as the jams on offer weren't great quality. Positive though that cooked breakfast now cooked to order, that's much better than the serve yourself offering.
We lived In the UK "London" for 2 and half years, and never been to any place that understands hospitality, customer service........ Me&Wife we both agreed that the Mercure experience was a shocking surprise from A2Z!!! How nice, clean, friendly, professional, respectful stuff.... they made our weekend better than expected!!! Even the food was beyond amazing, and have to mention for such a nice hotel.... it's a very FAIR price!!! Been there on the 5th of May!!! And we promiss u to come back!!! Thank u Mercure!!!
Stayed for one night for a wedding. Parking availability good. Check in good. Room with balcony overlooking gardens was lovely. Wedding atmosphere great. But - - service in bar hotel area not not wedding was woeful with a surly and sour faced server who quite frankly made us feel like an inconvenience. If this was a pub, I would have walked out and gone elsewhere. - others eating in bar area had misfortune of having food dropped over them. Yes these things happen but combined with the bar sourpuss it made it feel like Fawlty Towers - the bathroom was tired and needs an overhaul. Overall not an experience I would want to repeat until staffing improves and bathrooms upgraded.
I stayed for 3 nights at the hotel whilst away with work. The location was lovely, nice & close to Dorking and brilliant walks up & around Box Hill on your doorstep. The staff were friendly enough although there was a couple of occasions in the restaurant where the lady who I think was the restaurant manager had some inappropriate conversations well within ear shot. The room was very tired & the mattress was awful! I even resorted to sleeping on the floor by the 3rd night. Nice to have had a balcony though.
The food is always good, I usually am part of a conference when I visit so no comment about the rooms. When I have ordered food, make sure you have plenty of time because it takes a while to come through, also if you want to dine with more then 3 others, you need to book a table ahead of time. They aren't used to having big amounts of people it seems. Every time I have come 4 weekends now they seem to get overwhelmed with too many people eating! If you plan your meals and book ahead, you should be fine, just don't plan to have a quick meal here! Walkability: At the bottom of Box hill, a great place to start walking!
Lovely hotel. I was upgraded to a privileged room which was a lovely treat. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Ideal location for the office. Rooms: Very spacious for the location Food & drinks: Lovely breakfast and dinner options Noteworthy details: Outdoor heated pool
Wonderful staying, amazing team, very helpful. The food is worth any money, delicious and fresh done. The hotel is quiet and atmosphere is great. Room have everything what you need.Rooms: 5/5
Excellent stay at the Burford Bridge Hotel as a solo traveler! The hotel is older as other's mentioned. But my room was clean, comfortable, and very quiet. The bus stop just steps from the door took me to downtown Dorking for great food and a concert. Karima went above and beyond to help me with transportation, wi-fi, and made my experience top-notch. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. I will definitely stay here again on a future trip to Dorking.
We love to take our dog to Box Hill, so decided to spend a couple on night at the Mercure. Location is great, staff very helpful, Karima has been very nice with us. Over all the hotel is nice, though some little touch here and there at the bedrooms is needed. We'll be back
Stay was ok, certain parts of room were a bit tired, grounds and main hotel lobby and bar were nice. Staff were welcoming, Check in was fine We were a little bit disappointed that we advised that this was a wedding night stay and it wasn’t acknowledged…
