Lovely lunch with a friend. We both had jacket spud with Brie and bacon. Food lovely. Staff v friendly. This is a lovely pub that can’t be improved any more. Wouldn’t hesitate to hold an event here. Whatever the owner has skill wise he should bottle. Thank you.
A really special stay. We were greeted by the manager. Who showed us to our accommodation. We stayed in the barn and it was modern, clean, warm and comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities along with towels and a little mint chocolate on the bed. We ate at the pub which had great food choice. I had sticky beef salad. For kids: Great food choice for simple kids favorites. The lady even gave my daughter a Princess pack of colouring books, dot-to-dot at the dinner table to keep her entertained. A really lovely touch. The pub was a proper pub and so felt cozy, friendly and had a typical English pub ambiance. The location was quiet. There were plenty of car parking spaces and nice walks over the back fields. Dog friendly: they are super dog friendly here. With bowls laid out and biscuits for your dog. We didn't stay long enough to explore the area properly as we were taking part in a race at Gatton Park.
A lovely old pub off the beaten track ... with accommodation ... set in a nice location....with walks . Food is good value and excellent, especially the steak and ale pie n veg. Good beers. Friendly and efficient staff. Marc, the owner is especially good at recruiting and training youngsters as staff. The cellar rooms are great for bigger groups wanting a bit of separation from the main bar area. A genuinely good place to go to.
I stayed at the Red Lion as I knew it would be quiet at night and because I'd stayed there before and was pleased with the room I had before. My room was in the main block. It was a good size, there was everything I needed. There was a lovely view, it was quiet when the pub closed. I ate in the restaurant and was pleased with the service and my meal. I would definitely recommend this place for dining and staying.
Food was lovely, Thank you to the chef, presentation, flavours were wonderful. Wonderful service and well done to the two young men serving. Only gave a 4 star as rooms need an update but extremely clean. Thankyou From a party of 8 . Evening meal 191023 Food & drinks: Excellent food
Disappointing roast dinner. Potatoes, Yorkshire's, sausage all tasted as though they were straight from the freezer. Meat dry and tasteless. Generally poor quality food, which was a shame as it's otherwise a nice pub. Good atmosphere and friendly staff.Service: 3/5
This is a little gem of a pub - enjoyed a delicious midweek lunch here - varied menu to suit all tastes. I really liked my inventive and tasty vegetarian wellington reasonably priced at £13.95. It has an attractive outdoor seating area adjacent to cricket pitch, comfy interior and friendly efficient staff. Independently owned so do visit and support this super place. It has a car park and is dog friendly…..children will enjoy the huge wooden dinosaur and giraffe outside! Oh and it has rooms for overnight stays too…..
Was recommended here by a lady in a local shop & certainly didn't dissappoint.Lovely welcome, complimentary little nibbles before our main. The menu was great good for veggies/vegan too and the food was great.Fire going too what's not to like.Landlord Mark was welcoming as was the lovely waitress.Came home raving to my hubby about it will 100% return and would love to maybe stay and try out the rooms.
Only popped in for a lunchtime beer, staff on the ball and pleasant, food looked delicious, didn't eat just drank 2 pints.Service: 5/5
What a great find. Loads of character, outstanding food and brilliant service. Plenty of parking and outside seating. I have passed this place many times but there is not much to see from the road. Don't let that put you off ! It's lovely inside and there was a log fire going in the outside area. There is plenty of covered space and a big marquee for functions. The owner is very 'hands on' and very friendly. I'm going back next Saturday!!
