We had such a great weekend! The staff were super friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful room. The chocolates on arrival were a lovely touch and very delicious. We ate in the restaurant whilst we were staying and a great evening was had by all. We will definitely stay again if we are back in Dorking! Thanks for looking after us so well!
Charming hotel and pub. We stayed for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the characterful charm of the pub and the modernity of our hotel room. The food and drinks were lovely. The only thing I’d note is that our east facing room caught a lot of morning sun and was quite warm as a result. We stayed during a heat wave so I imagine it’s not a massive problem most of the time, this coming from an Australian who is very used to heat.
The room was beautifully decorated and clean with good amenities. However within the room you could hear a deep and powerful intermittent hum all night. It sounded like it was coming from a pump elsewhere in the building. Earplugs did nothing because it was a deep sound and I was only able to sleep with noise cancelling headphones.

Authentic old-English charm — wooden beams, vintage furniture, warm lighting. Nothing overdone, just pure style and character. A place with soul.nnAt the front desk, we were greeted by Ella — polite, confident, and genuinely welcoming. She gave us a tour of the available rooms and, without us even asking, upgraded us. That’s real hospitality — the kind you remember.nnWe walked into the restaurant just five minutes before the kitchen was supposed to close, expecting to be turned away. But no — they smiled, seated us, and served us a truly delicious meal. Juicy meat, smooth mash, beautifully roasted apple — everything on the plate was a win.nnBreakfast the next morning kept the standard high. A proper full English — fresh, tasty, well-presented. Huge credit to Yulia, who looked after us during breakfast. Calm, professional, and incredibly attentive — she made sure everything ran smoothly.nnThat said, I’ll mention two small things — not as complaints, but as things worth noting.nn* The spinach served at breakfast had a slight gritty texture — possibly some sand. Nothing major, but noticeable.n* And there were no slippers in the room, which was a bit surprising considering the otherwise excellent experience.nnnnFinal thoughts? This isn’t just a place to sleep — it’s a place to feel welcome, to eat well, and to enjoy real hospitality. I’ll be back. And if they polish those tiny details — this place could easily be five stars plus.
Went for lunch and absolutely loved it. From first greeting the staff were great, the room was warm and comfortable with a nice atmosphere. The food was delicious, freshly cooked and quality ingredients, way above normal pub food standards. I would highly recommend the Guinea fowl starter and the pheasant main. All cooked to perfection. Sadly we were too full to have dessert but the ones I saw looked amazing so next time I won’t have a starter!
