The Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal is a wonderful venue. The staff were friendly and welcoming which created a relaxed atmosphere. The food was incredible aswell all before an amazing performance by Bernard Butler. The intimate setting and great acoustics made the show even more special. Overall, a fantastic place for food, music, and good vibes!
We have visited twice recently. Once to the cinema which was excellent and more recently to see a show in the Maltroom. The show was fine but you should know that the venue has a flat floor and many pillars so some seats especially towards the back have restricted views. We ate in the restaurant - the food is ok and it's a nice place to spend some time.nThe staff in both venues and the restaurant are great.nAll in all the Brewery Arts centre is a vibrant spot for a night out in Kendal.
Great night out at a great venue. Won’t hesitate to go again.
Went to a gig at Brewery a couple of weeks back. I have been a regular at this place over the years and always enjoyed it. What has completely spoiled the experience of going here for me is the fact that they have removed the bar in the main room, meaning gig goers have to queue outside or upstairs for aaages to get a drink and miss the show. I noticed that there was hardly any staff on either bar, something like 3 upstairs and 2 downstairs they were rushed off their feet and looked stressed, but there seemed to be loads of front of house and security staff milling about looking chilled. They also had 2 events on plus the bar/restaurant. I don’t think the venue can really cope with this, it was heaving, and I even had to queue for the toilet at one point. The price of drinks was excessive for the service received, costing me £25 for 2 double spirits, mixer and a lemonade. Especially when it’s chucked in a plastic cup I get the safety aspect no ice or lemon/lime basically warm or flair for what you pay and the mixer is hardly topped up. I got 2 drinks/rounds, and was going to get more but when I saw the queue I didn’t bother, plus I’d already spent £40 on 2 rounds! Some of my favourite acts often play here and the atmosphere is always great but I’m going to reconsider next time as the bar experience ruins it really. Especially since the cost of living increase tickets that used to cost £10-15 are now £20-25.
A really lovely local venue. It has a small but perfectly formed theatre that attracts some decent acts, especially for comedy, and cinema screens. There are also art and craft workshops and a bar and restaurant. You couldn't ask for more from a local arts venue.
