The campsite is a stones throw from the machair, Seal Bay and golden beaches.The campsite is situated on a prime location on the west side of Barra, two and a half miles from Castlebay. Castlebay is the port for the Oban ferry and has all the facilities you would expect; shops, library, sports centre, hotels, cafes, bank and post office.Borve Camping and Caravan Site has excellent facilities including:- showers toilets kitchen laundry plus WiFiAll facilities have disabled access and are included in the pitch fees.The site is open all year."

We can't praise this campsite enough. Donald was very kind and thoughtful and recommended we pitch our folding camper in the most sheltered spot on the site to protect us from the very strong winds which were forecast. Great amenity block with free hot showers as long as you want. The local pizza takeaway is highly recommended too
A great campsite that has put aside a dedicated space for tents! We found a lot of campsites were very motorhome based, and while there are lovey pitches here for motorhomes, we appreciated the flat and sheltered pitches that are provided for tents. The facilities are good, and the kitchen has a kettle, toaster and air fryer that can be used. There is also a hair dryer and a washing machine. The views are also stunning - I would stay here again!
What a perfect site for a motorhome. The waves crashing on the rocks below. Toilet block scrupulously clean, both inside and out! Donald friendly and helpful. Just a couple of miles from the ferry terminal.
Absolutely superb place to stay. Fantastic views that are calming and great facilities. Donald, the site owner is always there to help, very approachable and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. This is just a magical place to stay. It's inspiring and adds to the magnificent Barra appeal. Love it!
Stayed here in July 2020 and the owners and site presence were great. Very accommodating and welcoming. Small kitchen and showers were all clean and well kept. Lovely beach a short walk from the camp which made for a lovely evening. Not a regular camper but would stay here again. Small camp site which puts a nice limit on total number of people that can stay, which likely also means you need to pre-book to ensure pitching space.
As other reviewers have said, the showers were amazing!! So clean and new, great hot water pressure and great space by the sinks with hair dryer. Lovely friendly staff and great spot overlooking the beach. Would definitely recommend!
What a little treasure of a campsite this place is. First up the facilities are the best I’ve come across on the entirety of the outer Hebrides. Fantastic shower with good pressure, toilets were plentiful and extremely clean and the cooking facilities were more than adequate. The view you get from this campsite is just incredible, you get the ruggedness of the Scottish coastline mixed with views out over the Atlantic completely unspoilt. The warm welcome and advice I received upon arrival was fantastic. A campsite I couldn’t honestly recommend anymore!
Everything a small campsite should be. Travelling very light with tents? Look no further - well thought out, well maintained, friendly welcome. Just great. Oh, plus especially sheltered from S / SW storms.
Probably the best camping/caravan site in Scotland! Absolutely gorgeous views of the rugged Hebrides coast, spotless ablution block and kitchen area. Superb showers! We only wish we had more time to stay longer.Rooms: 5/5
We stayed one night in our motorhome. Our pitch was clearly marked for our arrival and plenty of space due to the designated hard standing. The pitches are on the edge, with interrupted views of the bay. We saw seals and dolphins; amazing. The facilities are spotless and new, but you just need to time it right when visiting the block as there are only limited sinks & toilets. Fresh water, waste water disposal, rubbish point & toilet disposal are all easily accessed. The road passes close by, so there is some noise. If approaching from the North, it is a tight turn to go down the slope. On the whole a great spot and would certainly stay again. Thank you Alun for making us feel welcome.
