One of the most architecturally stunning church related building I’ve never been too. An incredible amount of stain glass windows and when the Sun is shining behind them they really are deserving of all the praise that has been bestowed upon them. The trip up the tower definitely worth it, you will see some very unique views over York and the surrounding areas. However you do have to walk up very narrow spiralling steps, 275 of them to be precise, so it’s not suitable for everyone. All in all a good way to spend a few hours when you are in York.
Recommended for a short walk between Botham Bar and Monk Bar. Great viewing of York Minster is a plus. The city wall are fenced throughout the walk between these two gates, but the stairs are too narrow for a stroller/pushchair. No wheelchair access.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo

Historic gate for the old wall that surrounds York. Nice views of Yorkminster church from the wall.
Part of the full wall experience, the wall is worth the stars.Visited onWeekday

Found it by chance and had a lovely walk along before heading home.. garden views are wonderful!
Located on the West of the city Wall, at the Bootham Arch walkway, where you can use the steps to get on the wall, the Hole in The Wall Pub is situated, quite small on the inside but has a really good seating area that runs along the wall for about 50m Great location.
