The two stars are for the pretty good burger. The service was utterly appalling. Once seated, we had to wait 20 minutes before anyone came to serve us. Drinks took at least another 5 minutes to arrive. Food came 35 minutes after initial order and was completely wrong. Fish finger sandwich sent instead of ham. Tomato on burger when told there was an allergy. Then sat and waited for another couple of minutes for the cutlery. After that, we ordered cake at the counter as nobody came round again. 20 minutes later and no cake. We asked for bill and said not to bother with the cake. Bill came quickly but the cake was on it... over wandered the waitress with the cake on a plate so we asked to have it done to take out as we couldn't be bothered messing around with refunds. I kid you not, we were asked to wait at the exit while they did this and it was yet again done in slow motion. When we finally got it, another waitress came to us and actually asked me whether we had paid as we were walking out of the door. Outright accusing us of attempting to leave without payment!! Not only had we paid, we had still left a tip after the poor service! Never, ever again. Will stick to Pot House Hamlet and Rob Royd.

BLACKer Hall farm , Home produce pies - What a real disappointment. We purchased 2 pies from blacker hall yesterday for sunday lunch. I would not quite describe them as awful but they were pretty darn close. Both pies were 'thin' and had very little taste. The pastry was soggy and why do these pies not go crispy and or ' golden brown' when cooked?? It is certainly worth the few more miles trip to Cannon hall for any of their pies which are far superior inside and out. Stuart stoner ( didn't eat all the pie !! )

Excellent farm shop with highest quality fruit, vegetables, meat and other locally produced and sourced produce. Also a first class cafe/restaurant which delivers very good food at reasonable prices. Overall first class value for money.

We visited the cafe for afternoon tea (January 17th) as a treat for my birthday. The waitress was surly to say the least. When I asked her, nicely, to change a coffee cup for a tea cup she tutted and sighed and when I asked if it was too much trouble the look she gave me was openly hostile. Another waitress then took over who was very pleasant. I would have complained privately but couldn't find a complaints department. No-one was wearing a name badge. The food was lovely as usual but the atmosphere was ruined by one person's attitude.

Very nice shop and food selection. Just a bit too pricey compared to some other quality butchers.
