Not a place for families! My friend and I were at Thornes Park last Thursday. We were so happy for a bit of sun and wanted to give the kids some fresh air after being couped up all week because of the rain. I took boots for my two thinking it might be a bit muddy but none of us were prepared for how muddy it was on the park. But it's the park and if you are going to conduct a business on the park you should be prepared for a) noise because kids aren't programmed to sit still and not move especially at 3 years of age and b) mud As soon as our party walked through the door everyone turned and stared like we had four heads. There were two adults and four children. Us adults weren't too muddy but the kids shoes were and the two boys had fallen in the park so had mud on their trousers (as kids do!) We proceeded to order and pay for drinks and scones and I took them all to the toilet to wash their hands. My friends eldest got told by the presumed owner of the cafe that he could not sit down on the chair. My friend wasn't too pleased by this as you can imagine especially as the chair could easily be wiped clean. He sat down as told to by his mum. As soon as we were all out of the toilet the presumed owner was straight in with a bucket to clean (I had only washed their hands in the sink) Comments that followed after from this lady such as "Where have you been?" And something about her ears hurting already were disgusting. They could not have made us feel more unwelcome if they tried. Being on a park I thought they would be family friendly but we did not find them to be at all.

How sad and disappointing, after a beautiful walk with my daughter and our dog in the park, I urgently needed the Toilet and there are no public toilet to my knowledge, the cafe in the park has a notice outside saying you cannot use their toilet unless you are a customer. I went inside and explained that I had crohns disease and urgently needed the toilet, I understood I had to buy something but please could I go to the toilet. After very loudly in front of all the customers who turned round and staff watching my humiliation she said I must sit inside and can only use the toilet if I sit inside, by this point, nearly soiling myself and close to tears I agreed, I said I would order 2 teas and pay but I needed the toilet before sitting down, at this point she agreed. After using the toilet I then had to sit in the cafe full of people I had been humiliated In front of. Thank goodness I had some money otherwise I would have soiled myself in the cafe. It's such a shame because it looks a lovely dog friendly cosy cafe that I would have used often had the been understand, I am now also scared to go to the park again

I have never been made to feel so uncomfortable in my life as me and my friend were last thursday! If you dont want children in then i suggest putting a sign up! The comments we recieved about our children making noise and the fact they were muddy from playing on the grass (as you do at a park) was disgusting to say least! Telling my son when i was purchasing drinks and food from you that he couldnt sit down due to falling over on you're WIPEABLE seafs is beyond disgusting! The comments our children were too noisy? Do you expect mute children? Noisy children=happy children and ill be damned if i ever line youre pockets with our money again! I suggest a course on customer service and general empathy as it seems youre more bothered about lining youre pockets and guarding the toilets! Will never come here again...

If could give 0 star I would. As a customer I feel you are looked at as if you are stupid with signs everywhere of what not to do rather than a welcoming to their business. Also they are very territorial over the use of toilets. With signs and locks, I was a paying seated customer with 2 of my friends and I used there facilities to be locked in, light was on, manager didn't even open the first door to ask if anyone was in there just walked up and locked the door from the outside leaving me to not get out. Then her attitude to doing this was in a word disgusting, no apology and was very very rude to me. My heavily pregnant sister was also refused use of toilet on another occasion even after saying she would purchase drinks and snacks. Bad attitudes and should focus on their actual customers rather than the petty attitude towards 'outsiders'

Only allowed to use toilet when having something inside. If taking away they dont allow use of toilet. On one occasion my partner who has anxiety was locked in the toilet by a member of staff. And upon being let out was told there was no need to panic.
