Excellent college. Very helpful teachers. They'll guide you in each and every steps for your better results. Very pleased that i did my A levels from here.
I joined Blackburn college last year in September with previous struggles with signs of dyslexia, I spoke to multiple members of staff including many English teaching staff in which they told me I would get extra support, a teacher to sit with me, extra English lessons, a computer to use during lessons, etc. And nothing has happened even now I have rung the college itself and messaged other members of staff multiple times and they have said they will try to get something sorted out but still nothing has happened. I was promised by my now English teacher that a dyslexia test would be done at the start of the year in September then again told in October then November and December and now in January and still nothing has been done No support in the slightest and I've just been told today that the college itself can't support me with any help in lessons and they can't provide a dyslexia test, so they told me I would have to pay £500 for a person to come in to do a dyslexia test. So because of all of the messing about I am going to withdraw my enrollment and find actual support from elsewhere. And If you are thinking of going or sending your child to Blackburn college just keep in mind that they don't show you any support if you have learning disabilities or if you are disabled and you will just be messed about for months until they tell you that they can't actually help you and would be better to get support outside of college.
Worst college DO NOT ATTEND. Worst teachers. No qualifications gained. Will be taking further action. Close this rubbish college down
The timetable changed regularly, the teachers would either not teach what was relevant, or recap the same insultingly basic knowledge. Some left the college with no consideration for us, forcing us to redo entire units with only a few weeks notice. Students were immature and rude. The property is not maintained well at all.
Sent several emails and calls to check about the apprenticeship I've applied for. 4 weeks down the line and no response , Admin are aggressive on call and make up excuses everytime. Quite obvious most people there arent even qualified to teach or even work. Would've given zero if I could. Everytime I called In they promise to contact me but never do.
Blackburn college is not good college to go to if you have got disability they do not support you in anyway and if u have appointments /hospital they just shout at you and kick you out of the course.
I’m still studying here and let me tell you it’s not worth even £10 or a kitkat bar. There is about two tutors which are reliable, but to an extent. During my year and a half here- we had 5 teachers quit on us with no replacement in sight. When it came to my motion graphics course, we were given a teacher who had no idea what he was doing or saying - I was paying to watch YouTube tutorials because my tutor was not able to help me. Trying to get ahold of tutors is impossible- and they’re straight up selfish when it comes to supporting their students. Basically don’t go here if you have any of these: 1. Standards 2. No money 3. Basic self respect 4. Mental health issues
My daughter has a disability which the college won’t accommodate to meet her needs fully. They have advised her not to do Alevels because she won’t be able to catch up if she misses lessons as they won’t give her extra support to do so which is discriminatory as it puts her at an unfair disadvantage to others who don’t need time off due to illness or medical appointments. One of her teachers told her off for having a blood test appointment during lesson and needing time off despite this having been prearranged and agreed with the ALS team at the start of term. The teachers don’t seem to check their online portal to know what care needs are in place for individual students or accommodate them. It appears the ALS team have little or no influence over what goes on with the Alevel department and my daughter has had no communication from them since starting college. They don’t seem to know how to handle a 16 year old which is an irony because they are in this profession. One of the management team seems to have unfairly targeted my daughter as she continuously talks down to her and treats her like a child which my daughter doesn’t like and she stands up to her which this woman doesn’t like. This person proceeded to give my daughter a hard time for having an appointment the day after her exam as she couldn’t attend an extra session that she hadn’t been informed about. Note her appointment had been prearranged for in her own time too and no it couldn’t be changed. Communication seems particularly poor and it seems to be a blame culture from teachers. They don’t seem to treat them with the respect they deserve as young adults. They are young and impressionable and won’t learn and grow in this kind of adult environment. I must say so far I have been disappointed by this college and contrast this to when my daughter was at secondary school and had a great deal of support put in place.
Really enjoy it at this moment. It's the best and the teachings are amazing.
University was fun until Covid-19. I am paying the same tuition fees even though I am never there. I dont have the same support or resources. Remote learning is minimal and all I get is flooded with emails. They expect the same quality of work with minimal support from University. I wont be attending my 3rd year. Ill get my FdA and leave. 8250 a year in tuition fees is a lot to say I feel like a stay at home parent, not a student.
