An amazing hidden gem tucked into the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors. Lovely service and beautiful surroundings. Great beer, delicious pork pies and a wonderful shop as part of the building next door, what more could you want. An authentic English pub full of charm and realism.
Love places like this. This is exactly what I go looking for when on holiday. It really is a tiny little place, but service was good, there was room for the 5 of us and 2 other couples that were already there. Drinks were as you would expect and the beer soaked cake was pretty good too. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. We walked from Goathland, went to see both waterfalls and the pub on a circular walk. Nothing too strenuous and easily achievable in an afternoon.
A right proper pub. The beer tastes as it should, served at the appropriate temperature and tastes as it should! Photos of nearby Mallyan Spout, have a pint after your walk.
What a find. A small hamlet with a lovely back in time pub and sweet shop. Local brews and so homely. Not open Monday and Tuesday.
Love this place. It is so quirky and atmospheric. Ideal for unfussy walkers who don't want trendy overpriced premises. A tiny bar full of friendly folk enjoying a beer or coffee. The owners/staff are very polite and helpful.
We came across this pub/shop at the halfway point of a walk from Grosmont to Beck Hole and back. The timing of the find was perfect. The two halves to the pub building were full. It’s an olde worlde pub that is full of character - it’s like going back in time! We then bought some sweets for the walk back to Grosmont on the Rail Trail. We would definitely return here.
Quaint, old fashioned, a great little find. Great beer, great bar snacks, lovely fire staff great. Well worth visit .
Absolutely fabulous pub. Friendly, welcoming and beautifully unspoilt. Well worth a visit when your in the area
Lovely little gem hidden away. Nice ale and food. Very friendly owners.
Quirky and quaint in the middle of nowhere beer is good and the buttered beer loaf is a must. Make sure you bring cash though as they do not accept card
