I was recommended to have afternoon tea here by multiple people and wow, we were totally blown away with the quality of the service, ambience and best of all, the food and drinks for their afternoon tea in The Belmont Room! The room was beautiful, which had a lovely ambience with the piano playing in the background. The service was excellent from all staff we encountered and I would say the quality of the food is on par, if not better than The Ritz afternoon tea. A total must when visiting York! The vegetarian afternoon tea was so delicious.
We went to Bettys twice while in York as the food was so delicious. On our first visit we had sandwiches including the club sandwich, egg and cress and ham and cheese. On our second visit we had the club sandwich again! the salmon salad and avocado on toast. We also had tea and Scones of course! It was beautiful, my first ever time in York and in a Bettys. Would definitely recommend
First time visiting as usually here the Q can go right around the side of the tea room. We only had to wait fifteen minutes to get in. When we got in we were waited on by very friendly and attentive staff. My mum has mobility issues and they were very attentive toward her and we were sat near the windows on the ground floor. We both had a fat rascal and a pot of tea, and it filled us up. Very reasonable prices if you’re on budget as well. A quaint thing to add to any trip to York. Highly recommend.

Me and my wife booked afternoon tea. Experience was amazing from being welcomed at reception till we paid bill and left. Staff is really professional and polite. Live piano player add a rich feel to whole experience. They gave us chocolate coins as our post wedding anniversary gift which was very cute. Recommended.
