I enjoyed going here. The scones were good and the coffee is good as well. It has a nicely decorated interior and the staff is very friendly. We had to queue to get in. That's probably because of the hype. If the hype is worth it is up to you. I don't like to wait to get a coffee or a scone. The prices are also rather high. So it's nice to visit to see what it is, but not something I would visit on a regular basis.
Bettys Tea RoomsnnWhat can I say about Bettys? Despite there being a queue and four of us waiting for a table, we were seated in around 15 minutes, which was far quicker than expected.nnWe were taken down to the third floor and given what felt like one of the best seats in the house. The surroundings were beautiful and full of character. One of the staff members took the time to tell us about the history of the tea room, explaining how the owner met his wife on a cruise ship and how parts of the room were inspired by a royal design. It added a lovely touch to the experience.nnThe staff weren’t overly friendly or chatty, but they were professional, knowledgeable, and very efficient throughout our visit.nnAs for the food, it was a mixed bag. My wife ordered a gluten-free scone and felt it wasn’t one of the best she’d had. Stuart had a teacake and wasn’t particularly impressed, commenting that he’d had better for less elsewhere. On the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed my Yorkshire Tea cake and Trish absolutely loved her famous Fat Rascal, which certainly lived up to its reputation.nnTo drink, I had Darjeeling tea served with lemon, which was excellent and complemented the food perfectly.nnThe bill came to around £47 for the four of us, which isn’t cheap, but you’re paying for far more than just the food. The atmosphere, history, surroundings, and overall experience make Bettys a destination rather than simply somewhere to eat.nnOverall, Bettys is a must-do experience. Not every item was a winner, but the setting, service, and unique character of the place made it a memorable visit that we’d happily recommend.
We booked the afternoon tea experience upstairs. It is different food to those that sit downstairs for afternoon tea. We were greeted and seated by the lovely Lena who looked after us so well. She helped us chose a tea from the list. The cream cheese starter was so nice, the egg sandwiches were so light and tasty. The little desserts were lovely but my favourite were the scones with jam and cream.nWe booked for 1pm when the upstairs opens, we got there early so we could get a window seat. The pianist was very talented and it was soft background music. I will document it on my Suitcase Sandy social media page soon if anybody is interested.
What an amazing place. The staff are so friendly, the atmosphere really relaxing even though it gets super busy. But with no booking we only waited max ten minutes before getting a table. The festive afternoon tea was beautiful, and couldn’t even finish. Ended up having the sweet treats to take out which I ended up giving to a homeless chap on the street as he was hungry. Love this place, and definitely will be back.
Located at the heart of the beautiful town of Harrogate, we visited the famous Bettys Tea Rooms to buy cakes and pastries. We did not have tea there. They have a great selection of cakes, chocolates, biscuits and pastries. We have had cakes from the York branch, which we loved. It did not disappoint this time either! I would accept that some people may find this place a bit pricey.
