The fell commands great views from nooks and crannies between the varied trees that carpet the hill. There's a few miles of well tended pathways plus an unknown number of untended ones too. The best view is from the summit, which was undergoing renovation work when I visited. To the south side of the fell is Dragonfly Tarn. Due to its location it's easy to miss but is worth a detour for. Take some sweetcorn for the ducks (never bread). The visitor centre has a decent cafe as well as displays, local work and gifts. On very busy days it can be difficult to park. If the visitor centre car park is full drive around the circular fell road, as there's also small car parks tucked away. The car parks are free after 5pm.
