Friendly staff. Nice interior. The room was a bit basic but the bed was comfy. Dog friendly. Self service breakfast was good but not many veggie/vegan choices. Pay extra for parking on site and extra for having a dog even though you also get a basic room. Kind of paying twice! Seems to be the way with hotels that claim to be dog friendly nowadays sadly.
The staff were very friendly and the room adequate. Not sure if I would return to the same hotel. We had dinner. The smoked haddock was not smoked, teriyaki chicken sauce was suspect, the veg which came as a part of the meal was left of…..not only for me but for other residents. Finally the custard was watery and light of flavour. Apart from those points Scarborough is a great place to go. Scenery is fantastic. Calming place.
We have just had a lovely short break. The room was lovely. Food was excellent. All staff were very helpful and friendly. Bar and restaurant staff are very professional and helpful. They deserve alot of recognition as good service means so much. Thank you so much Christine Elliott

Stayed here via a coach tour. The location is lovely and quiet and only a few minutes walk to the sea front where there is a tram lift down to the beach then to the main part of Scarborough about a 10 minute walk or so along the beach, or to go from the hotel about 20 mins. The room we stayed in was clean, which is what you want, but basic, bring your toiletries, Personally I have a thing about pillows and mine were quite firm but ok really. Meals were adequate, limited menu but not a deal breaker, the service though top notch, can't fault the attentive service in the dining room, five stars to Philip. Breakfast is buffet in case you prefer table service, again can't complain, yes would stay again
Stayed 17/10/22 til 21/10/22 Room 221 was poorly decorated with pale blue emulsion on walls . doors. and windows, carpet was heavily stained and appeared dirty. Unable to use bath due to very low and slow water supply. No plugs near bedside. Disappointed to see dogs accommodated on first floor thereby using only lift, a real problem to persons with animal allergies. Staff could not be faulted, very attentive and efficient. Food was really good initially, tho the final evening meal and following breakfast was to say the least poor, as in overcooked and dry. I suspect a change in kitchen brigade, who let down their previous colleagues. Hotel standards in general were good however we felt that room 221 was nowhere near the rooms as shown on the website.
The Staffs were warm and friendly. We stayed in room 102 was poorly decorated on walls and ceiling,the carpet was stained.The bathroom needed a really good clean and shower very small. The breakfast and dinner were very good choices.Rooms: 2/5
2nd time we have stayed here Nice hotel Had a few problems at breakfast was forgotten about as we was in the conservatory with our dog. Had to find staff for cutlery Young lad who set the table placed the cutlery down with his thumb on the part that goes in your mouth and had his thumbs inside the cups when they were placed down too. Food heaters were also virtually empty before being topped up so what you got was drying out or had ran out.
Lovely stay excellent breakfast, staff lovely and lovely nice warm rooms. Would definitely stay againRooms: 5/5
As someone suffering from coeliac desease, I am always apprehensive of going somewhere new. The New Southlands however, went the extra mile to provide gluten free meals for me. Many thanks to all the members of staff!
