Super friendly welcoming pub. We booked a table after a country walk there was 12 of us plus 2 dogs and the pub were super accommodating and attentive. The food was lovely and came out quick. The lasagne looked amazing! The pub is set in a beautiful location with a nice garden out the back and a good sized car park. Would absolutely visit again.
Fabulous cosy country pub with log fires and great quality pub food with clasdic dishes. Good efficient service from the owner plus a wide range of popular ales. Can highly recommend the Harvey's IPA. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the South Downs.
Great place to stop for lunch when walking in the area. Called on the day to see if there was a table available and if dogs allowed. Couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Mentioned that short on staffing but they'd fit us in and go with it. Well it didn't notice that they were short. Met with a really warm welcome, shown to our table and made a fuss of our dog. Water and treat provided for the dog whilst we looked at the menu. Explained the fish was fresh in today. We all went for the fish and chips as a result, including the children's fish and chips and it was fantastic. Really good batter, even better fish and really good thick cut chips with a tangy tartar sauce to go with it. The chef was out to serve our food as well and brought more treats out for the dog. Not sure what was better, the service or the food. Couldn't fault either! Really enjoyable, thanks for having us over the festive period. Really appreciated the experience and quality family time.
Had a skittles evening there. Good alley. Good buffet provided with excellent chips and some healthy options too. Wide range of beers and real ales and ciders. Helpful, attentive, cheerful and friendly landlady. Car park adjacent.
Went with 7 of us, including my mother. Everyone exceptionally praised the food and my son said, for the dessert it was the best chocolate brownie he had ever had. At 23 years old he has road tested a few! Had some exceptionally nice whitebait, that largest whitebait I have ever eaten but simply deliciously fresh. A great husband and wife partnership with exceptional and friendly service and chips to die for!
Really nice old pub. Warm welcome from the proprietor and very accomodating. A great selection of beers and plenty to choose from on the food menu. The quality of our food was excellent and cooked perfectly. Highly recommended.
We, the 'Pompey Puddleducks' Citroen 2cv club, hired the skittle alley Sunday lunchtime for the 2nd time this year. Lorraine and everyone were extremely welcoming. The buffet was served spot on time and the food was excellent, lots of it and something for everyone. No curled up sandwiches here and such a reasonable price. How they managed their full Sunday restaurant plus their quick service regarding extra pudding and drink orders from the skittle alley people I have no idea. Organisation and skill I guess. Many thanks. We shall be back. Peter
This is the second time that I have visited the Barley Mow and I can say that the welcoming staff accompanied with the wide range of beers and lovely menu really made the lunchtime visit most enjoyable
4 of us Popped in for lunch time beer and a bite to eat.very warm welcome from the landlady!!friendly efficient service,tasty homemade food Great independent local!!!
We were 'greeted' by a rather rude, anxious and stressed lady who had obviously skipped the customer service part of her training. There was nothing she could do to help us. So we left. Never again.
