Really good facilities, and very clean. The staff was very polite and friendly. I bought a spa day with a 40min massage as a present for me and my boyfriend, and we loved the experience, and if it wasn't for the price, I would have been there every week. I certainly recommend it.
I'll start off with the pros. The whole place is very clean, good facilities though I didn't use/see the gym and staff were very pleasant. The spa treatment my partner and myself received was very good and we loved that they communicated with us and we felt so soft afterwards. The only slight con is that we were strictly asked to arrive early for our treatment but we were seen 15 minutes late but other than that we were very happy with the whole service and would 100% consider coming again
Maia was lovely and made me feel really relaxed. However, I was told to go down and wait in the spa area and was sat there half an hour until somebody came over to me. The treatments were okay overall, but I paid for an upgrade on the back massage and felt it was a waste of money.
I visited yesterday - we booked using a Virgin Experience voucher which was £89 for two people. This included a 40 minute treatment. I would like to start by saying that we started our visit with the treatments at 12pm which we thoroughly enjoyed and the ladies were absolutely lovely, providing top customer service. This is the sole reason that I have provided 2 stars instead of 1. After our 40 minute treatment, we went to the changing rooms and got ourselves ready for the pool. We entered the poolside area at approximately 1pm with the intention of a 45 minute swim and jacuzzi session before we headed to the lunch we had booked for 2pm. We had just got to the poolside area and my friend got into the pool. I decided I was going to go in the jacuzzi first so she swam one length to meet me at the other end to get into the jacuzzi. As she was getting out, a man asked everyone to get out of the pool approximately 1.05/1.10pm and started taping it off. He offered no apology or explanation. At approximately 1.35pm, there was still no update on the pool situation and there were no staff members in sight so I went to the spa desk to ask what was happening. They did not know and told me to go upstairs to the main reception. After queuing behind a couple who were checking in, I spoke to a brunette girl at approximately 1.45pm and explained that I felt it wasn't good enough when we had paid £89. She was very rude and abrupt, saying that the pool had only been closed for 10 minutes it had been closed for 35-40 minutes by this point and would be reopen soon. I explained that it had been closed for a lot longer than that. She then asked what time our treatment had been and when I explained it was at 12, she abruptly said "Well why didn't you go straight to the pool after?" It was like she was saying it was my fault that we didn't get to use the facilities!! I found her incredibly rude and judgemental, as if 20 minutes to get from the treatment area to the changing room, get changed and showered before heading to the pool was unacceptable! I explained that we couldn't wait around any longer for it to reopen as we had lunch booked for 2pm. Her answer was "Well just come back after lunch then." She was very abrupt and offered no explanation or apology. Her attitude was disgusting and it felt as though she was looking down on me. I explained we couldn't just come back after as we had a train to catch, having travelled from Coventry for this experience. I asked to speak to a manager. She disappeared for a few minutes and then came back, saying the manager was unavailable and giving me a small slip of paper with an email address on it to contact about my concerns. Her lack of customer service skills and attitude, on top of the closed pool, completely ruined my day. I had come for a day of pampering and relaxation with my friend after just giving birth a few weeks ago, to leave feeling more wound up and uptight than I had before I arrived! The relaxation we had recieved during our massage had completely diminished by this point and it had felt like a failure of a day that we had wasted £89 plus train travel on. 1
So me and my five friends all paid £50 each so in total £300 for an experience which wasn’t worth half what we paid, with an additional £18 for robe, towel and shoes, the £10 we would get back they said, which worked to be an additional £8 each, making us pay £58 each, the hygiene of the spa lacks, our treatment was cut short because we was waiting for the therapists to come inside, they had many people working at the desk, one friend asked for more pressure as it felt like a light tap during the massage to find a therapist telling her she would need to upgrade to a deep tissue massage? She was asking this because the massage lacked, This was during a “relaxing” massage to relax not feel awkward, all of us girls found this experience not worth our money. Steam room also didn’t work.
The spa and its staff really let this place down. I have been a member for some time and occasionally get a spa treatment, and almost always regret it. The staff look like it's the last place in the world they want to be, they're often late to treatments and finish them early. They've been rude to me several times which makes me wonder why I bother! The treatments themselves are nice but their customer service is seriously lacking.
Brought a spa experience through virgin experience days for my second time here. We always get a massage and a facial. The staff are friendly and welcoming and know what they are doing. Overall, the place is very clean, and I would recommend Bannatyne for anyone wanting a relaxing spa day!
Most disgusting costumer service of any comparable gym! Poor communication and very poor service!!! They think so low of themselves that they compare themselves to puregym and the gym group! But they charge 5 times the fee! They took my stuff without notice and asked for 10 pounds to return! Oh did you know you can’t use your phone in the gym? I wonder if they would kick you out for taking an emergency phone call! I have never been disrespected this much in my life!
Me and my partner had a spa day with 70 minutes treatments. Overall was our experience was ok but the treatment rooms are way too cold.. I was naked and freezing.. also the jacuzzi I have notice was just about hot.. def not the best
Really sad to give a bad review, they recently decided to reduce temperatures in the spa to save energy and honestly, the hot tub is "within range" but you can actually feel the cold water coming in. It's a shame to be paying for a service and unable to enjoy it because energy crisis, same with the steam room seems cooler and honestly... I can understand the pool being colder but the hot tub shouldn't be lukewarm... It's not a warm tub. I joined the gym specifically to use the spa especially as I had an injury and couldn't work out properly they have a lovely and comprehensive gym with 3 studios and plenty classes...weight area, resistance machines and cardio areas. . . But now the therapeutic elements are feeling sub par as it's not the lush warm zen you're expecting... It's honestly a great disappointment for me and several regular members who've been complaining about the changes, especially coming up to winter... Like in the summer you can get away with reducing temps but as it gets colder the temperatures should be going up so we have a cosy haven to escape to.
