Avo means ‘welcome’ in many languages, and that’s what we’d like to do: welcome you to our boutique hotel in the vibrant heart of East London. Lonely Planet UK calls Dalston “uber cool” and according to The Guardian newspaper, "Hackney is the cultural heart of London."

We spent one night at the Avo this week. We were given room 007, which was a huge room with a king sized bed, kitchenette and lovely shower room. We were very impressed as we had expected a straightforward double room. The room had thoughtful touches - tea and coffee, good quality toiletries, spotless clean linen and towels - everything you could possibly want for a short stay. The bed was extremely comfortable and I was delighted to see good quality, comfy pillows which ensured a very good night's sleep. The location was spot-on for us and close to many bars and restaurants. The staff were very welcoming on arrival. We would absolutely return to the Avo Hotel if we need a place to stay in Dalston again. Excellent value.
My daughter and I recently stayed at the Avo Hotel for four nights. We found the hotel to be spotlessly clean, Our room on the ground floor was large with kitchenette and even a washing machine. The staff were warm and welcoming and went out of their way to be to be helpful and accommodating. The continental breakfast was reasonably priced and quite substantial. We also ate in the restaurant twice and enjoyed the delicious Indian cuisine. The Avo Hotel is a small well managed and very friendly family business and I would highly recommend it. I will definitely make a return visit when I am next in London.
This place was great! We just stayed here a week ago - and loved the personal touch and the family run feel. Felt very secure since you can't enter the building without someone letting you in. And the breakfast included was lovely! We stayed in the first floor studio - and it felt like we had our own little apartment flat in London. The neighborhood is awesome too! Recommend Farr's School of Dancing for a pint - and Mangal 2 for Turkish food.
What a lovely hotel! we live in Dalston but stayed with you for two nights as we wanted a bit of luxury and privacy after our wedding. It was perfect. The room was like a studio flat - big enough to spread out all our wedding presents, fantastically warm in a freezing December and the service was full of personal touches. We stay at hotels all over the world for business and pleasure, and individual enterprises like the Avo Hotel are becoming rare. We will use this hotel for guests who come to visit us in the future and will always have happy memories of our time there
I was delighted when I was shown to my room on the ground floor. It was huge, with cooker, microwave, fridge and even a washing machine. I wasn't expecting that! The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower lovely, with good quality products. The family who own this hotel obviously take huge pride in what they do and go out of their way to make their rooms special. Thank you for a lovely stay.
This hotel was perfect for us. We needed a place to stay overnight after celebrating a friend's wedding nearby. It was clear from the hotel's description that the rooms were small, but all we really needed was a bed for the night with a degree of comfort, and from that point of view, the Avo exceeded our expectations. Described as 'compact' we found the room plenty big enough, as all the fittings made best use of the available space. It was a hot day and night, so having aircon in the room was a great bonus. Having booked in in the afternoon and sorted out car parking with the staff's help, the night porter later let us in at 1.30am with no problems, and we both had a great night's sleep in a very comfortable bed, followed by a luxurious albeit in a small space shower and a more than adequate continental breakfast. The staff were extremely helpful at all times. We couldn't fault the experience we had and would not hesitate in recommending it. It is certainly reasonable value for money for London.
I stayed at Avo hotel for three nights while I was in London for a conference. I had a wonderful stay. The hotel is in a very charming area with walking distance to great bars, restaurants, cafes and Jazz places. Quite place close to subway station. The room I stayed in was small, but very clean and comfortable and well equipped that made my stay very pleasant. The bed was great. The best part of my stay was the people who work there. They were friendly, helpful and kind. I will definitely return to this place for my next trip to London. I recommend Avo hotel for your next stay without any hesitation.
We were greeted on Saturday morning and despite being well before the advised check-in time were allowed to use our room to change. The room wasn't yet cleared of the previous occupants, but we were warned about this - at the end of the day they didn't have to let us in early so that was a bonus. The pictures and reviews don't indicate this is a functioning Indian Restaurant/Takeaway with rooms above, so we were a little surprised. The room was compact but well equipped. I don't know why any hotel would provide reusable water bottles, no matter how well rinsed that's just not hygienic! My only real criticism was the incredibly squeaky bed, just turning over was deafening, this definitely needs sorting. At £119 for one night it was reasonably priced, but by no means "cheap". I would consider staying here again, but think a travel lodge probably offers an all round better value option.
We stayed at the Avo Hotel for 5 nights this past August. The family that owns and runs the hotel is so nice and it's obvious that they truly care about their business. The rooms are small though this is typical for Europe, but definitely not unmanageable and the amenities are awesome. It's pretty conveniently located as well, just down the street from a tube stop & the little restaurant that served the BEST grilled cheese we've ever had. We would definitely stay here again and we would definitely recommend them to friends & family!
The room was clean nicely furnished. Although it was small this was not a problem for us as it was only for a 1 night stay but if it was for any longer than that we would struggle as there is very limited space to hang up clothes etc. Bathroom was nice and clean and the shower was excellent. The location is good and only a short walk from the plenty of nice places to eat and drink. We weren't aware that the hotel was above an indian takeaway but to be honest this was not a problem either and we couldn't smell anything from the kitchen in our room. The price seemed fair as I think the Premier Inn down the road was similar in price.
