Took forever to do the paperwork and bloke behind the desk kept trying to sell me more insurance on the car even now I took the full out online and had proof. Kept saying yes sir but you can have this extra extra cover for..... Most annoying thing was to be told our luxury car had no sat nav. Not having mine with me I Had to borrow one at £90 for the week! Sounded like none of the cars had them as people where asking. Thing is though the mercedes given has sat nav. Avis have removed the maps card so it can't be used.  Don't get that with other companies. Will never use again

Booked and paid a vehicle online but on turning up there was no vehicle to my preference available and was told to go for an upgrade which is a good strategy of business but not good for customers. Never again.

Although the staff are friendly the system they use is so terrible that I will not hire a car from here. Other hire car companies take less than five minutes from being served to getting to the car, Avis and budget regularly take over 20 minutes.

Requested a price reduction or refund for a car that was not moved from its parking bay, due to a flight ticket mix-up, was told no, full payment was needed. Will avoid doing business with them where possible in the future. Staff are very nice at the airport. One star selected as I can't select zero stars.

I have just returned from Southampton. I booked a car from Avis through Flybe. The agreed price was £80 for four days. When I turned up to collect the car, the girl told me that I had made a mistake in my booking, and I had agreed to pick the car up the previous day, and to return it a day earlier than arranged. The new price was £227. As I didn't have the confirmation email with me, merely the reference number. I presumed that I had indeed made a mistake. I questioned the price increase, only to be told that the new dates justified the difference. When I arrived at my hotel, I located the original agreement on my phone and presented the email today, and indeed received a refund. However, when the girl was questioning my "mistake" she was extremely interested in the fact that I had no proof of booking and proceeded to charge me the new price. I knew I was right from the outset. I felt that I had been ripped off. I will never..ever use Avis again.
