Best meal we have in London during this trip! We chose to come here because despite their Michelin star, they have choice of "tasting menu" or "a la cart". And we did not regret. Impressed with every dish especially their courtesy appetizers, very interesting and delicious. We would love to come back if we have a chance.
A 5 star Michelin starred hidden gem in the heart of the City! Excellent service, a relaxed vibe, great menu, food presented beautifully, incredible flavours. I have been to dinner there as a couple and returned as part of a group for a private dining experience. Excellent wine menu.
We had the best time celebrating a birthday dinner! Among the best service we’ve ever experienced in a London restaurant. Food was amazing and the testing menu is definitely a good choice. For 2 ppl the bill ended up £430+ which we thought was fair - wouldn’t go everyday obviously but it’s great for a special occasion!
Pretty good experience of tasting menu, specialised on seafoods, with great view and atmosphere of the restaurant. All the amuse bouche had a very strong taste, not sure if it was necessary if the mains are mostly fish, only one of the bites were still memorable. Very good appetisers, great sauces and uses of asparagus was impressive. Mains were great too, especially cod was my favourite, so soft yet firm meat with great flavour, was a fantastic piece. Desserts were just average. Service was very quick as the restaurant was very empty, the waiters/waitress had a strong accent which made hard to understand when they were describing the dish, which is not a big deal however they could have smiled a bit more often as it felts very cold. Overall, was expecting more from this restaurant but I guess the standard of 1 Michelin star has gone down which is disappointing.
What a discovery! From the warm welcome to the start, it was a succession of pleasant surprises. The food was tasty and exquisite. The service was up to scratch, and we appreciated the attention we received from the team. Special thanks to Anna, Dinesh and John.Food: 5/5
Some of the best food I’ve had in the UK. I was extremely impressed with Angler, I was a bit worried as our group had a set menu as I can be a bit picky but wow, I kept trying things and was just so impressed with how much flavor everything had. It was nice having the chef come explain every dish but we still had no idea what we were eating with some dishes. Partially because of his accent but also likely largely because of the different names and foods that we just don’t know.
Enjoyed our 3 course lunch menu on Easter Friday at Angler 1 Michelin. We used our TravelZoo voucher £55 per person including a glass of wine On the 7th floor. Excellent service also. We were served with several amuse-bouche. We enjoyed the bread, sea bass tartare and the cod. The dessert was excellent too. Would come back for their dinner tasting menu. I shall reappraise again.
Tried the set lunch menu here with a friend and it was quite a fun little experience overall! We had the last reservation slot before they closed up to prep dinner so we enjoyed a very nice and quiet atmosphere looking out at the dreadful rain outside, and the staff were all very nice and friendly. We also ordered the Devon crab starter separately and that was honestly the very best thing we tried that day— we debated ordering another one before we left and if we ever came back I would order it again without hesitation. For the lunch menu, it was generally very fun to devour everything in one bite, though I will say for a seafood restaurant, I preferred my duck ravioli over the John Dory though it was the reverse for my friend. It’s generally not very fish-forward I found, which I guess is a shame because the crab from their a la carte menu was just SO good and the lunch menu doesn’t really reflect that. The desserts were just a tad too sweet, however, and really not the best note to end the meal on. We had a wine pairing which I did drink but didn’t think much of— but I’m not a wine person so who knows? I also ordered a cocktail which was very good. Overall, if you want a fun upmarket multi-course menu experience, I WOULD recommend this place, but maybe manage your expectations and order extras off the a la carte!
Ok, you'll need to take out a second mortgage, but the food is exquisite. Closer to art than simply a meal. We went at lunch: the restaurant was less than half full but still had a nice atmosphere. Great terrace overlooking the neighbouring offices. Took the tasting menu: 7 courses plus 3 rounds of amuse bouche, that took us over 4 hours to enjoy. No accompanying wine flight on offer.
Angler offers solid modern British food with a heavy emphasis on seafood. Execution varies from solid to exceptional. However, a few aspects of service detracted from the overall experience. Specifically, an alcoholic drink was served instead of the requested non-alcoholic option. Additionally, a allergy restriction communicated beforehand was not fully acknowledged, with an allergenic ingredient being highlighted when the dish was explained. The pacing of the meal could also be improved, as courses arrived inconsistently, sometimes very quickly in succession or with long delays. Furthermore, inconsistent plating and a lack of attention to detail fell short of what one would expect from a fine dining establishment. With some additional training and focus on detail, Angler has the potential to be an exceptional fine dining establishment.
