Great venue, accommodate around 2300 people. We went to see Sleeping at Last and what an amazing time we had! I purchased tickets for balcony, and due to seats not being assigned, we decided to join queue at 18:15 for doors to open at 19:00. Managed to have front seat at balcony, however looking back I would probably select seated area downstairs, as there was no back rest so if you struggling with your back, you might choose chair seat downstairs. Venue very spacious, very beautiful with amazing decor from what I assume was church, bar downstairs accessible during entire time of concert. Toilets on the lowest level of the building with decent number of cubicles in clean condition. To get yourself best seats I would suggest joining queue 45 min before door is open.
Went to see Lauren Daigle here recently. The acoustics are some of the best I've heard for an old hall, with great views from the standing area. However, aesthetically its very tired and needs work and some ££ spent on it. Also they literally tightly pack as many people in as possible in the standing area and there was literally no room to move, This was off putting and we opted to not go the bar as we could barely move! Id suggest dropping the capacity a touch in the standing area, you would make more money on drinks and a create a more comfortable experience.
Great venue. Set in an old church. Seating upstairs. Toilets are downstairs in the labyrinth below but overall what a cool place. Can get warm but they had free water for our concert. Great service from the staff as well. Entrance and exit was very swift. Will definitely be back to see other events hereVisited onWeekdayReservation recommendedYes
Wonderful accessibility team, great view from the accessible seating area. Drinks and merch runner was a really helpful service that more venues should implement! A beautiful building too, which they have made as navigable as they can for those with mobility issues. Best experience I've had as a disabled person visiting a music venue, a shining example for others to learn from!
Beautiful venue, steeped in history. The door staff are fantastic, the girl at the front desk is brilliant and no wait to get served at the bar. I'm trying to think of a negative but I can't. TJAMC no words!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Not advisable for disabled people with mobility issues. Long stairs to get to space designated to disabled. NOTE: Thank you for your reply, but I did contact the accessibility team, and I was in the list. I still had to go up and down those stairs with my friend carrying my wheelchair up. When I was finally moved to an accessibility area where I wasn't completely surrounded by people standing and dancing, it was better. Eventually, the woman in charge of accessibility that night apologised and helped take my wheelchair down as I went down those stairs again. I don't think I would be back. I almost had a full-blown panic attack by the time I was moved. Not the best experience.
15th July 2024: Lauren Daigle Overall: Genuine 5…..would be 6 if I could. Staff: Brilliant, approachable & very helpful Venue: It’s an old building with plenty of quirks & character - a fantastic place for music! Bar: Good options, great staff, pricey…..but comparable with other venues. Performance: Great warm up with Ben Hastings Hillsong Utd & Lauren Daigle was up there with the best concerts I’ve been to. In detail…… Long queue but very well managed by the venue & staff. It rained, but it’s Manchester, so always have a coat/brolly We arrived at 18:30 & the queue was building. In by 19:20. Have seen other comments about 1hr+ queuing, but it’s the same at every venue…..you either arrive early to be at the front of the queue or arrive later & have a longer queue - make a choice & live with it. Queue staff were nice & door staff really set the tone…..super cheerful & pleasant despite witnessing one get a mouthful from someone trying to skip the queue. Mrs C took an adventure in the toilets it’s a bit of a maze - clean & tidy…..which is most important. Got a 0% IPA from the bar - nice craft beer, not just a standard offer. Almost no queue, even though it was getting busy. Great service. Went on to the mezzanine, which was about 50% full as we got there. Still good seating options. It’s an old I guess Methodist church hall or similar, so it’s plain wooden seating. It’s designed for practicality, not comfort, but was very bearable with my hoodie under me as a pad. At capacity, it did start to get very warm. The fans went on to get air moving around 20:45 & stayed on throughout as far as I could tell to be fair, I wasn’t there to watch the fans Around the same time, the staff started coming round with bottles & jugs of water, freely handing them out to all. They were relentless & continued to run up & down with water for everyone well into Lauren Daigle’s set. Well done to the management for making the call & massive appreciation for the way in which the staff did it. Only downside was the odd crowd members who kept getting multiple cups/bottles for themselves instead of letting everyone have some first……but you can’t change human nature. Warm up act was Ben Hastings & he was marvellous from the get go. Clearly connected with the crowd & got everyone behind some lovely worship songs. Staging was the same for Ben & Lauren & was simple, even sparse, but in this kind of venue, I’m coming to see the artist, not the backdrop. Through both sets, you felt close to the stage & able to see all the little moments & emotions on the faces of the performers. Lauren Daigle……..simply wonderful! Fabulous set for almost 2hrs straight through with a mix of big hitters, contemplative songs & genuine moments where you could see she was getting as much from the crowd response as we were getting from her incredible vocals & presence. Wrapped up around 11:10 & there was a slow procession out of the building, but everyone upbeat & orderly. Last little nicety of the evening was the 3 staff at the door as we left…..all smiling, all lovely & all making the end of the night as pleasant as the first foot through the door. Have joined the mailing list specifically to get a chance to come back & enjoy similar artists & shows in this delightful setting!
Great gig and explosions in the sky were great. It's great that there's an option to sit at every event at the Albert hall. The atmosphere is great here. But if you're an accessibility customer things can be more difficult. They don't provide seats with back support and the toilet is far away from the viewing area. Also the viewing area is at the left side behind the band so atmosphere can be lost. You can feel separate from the crowd. However the team are lovely and there's a drinks runner so you don't have to go to the bar.
First time at the Albert seeing Griff. A wonderfully old skool atmospheric and characterful venue. Great view from the balcony. Great acoustics.Visited onWeekdayWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedYes
