Best garage in Portsmouth, I get my mot done every year by these guys. They have never made me feel like I'm being had over. they are honest and show you the part on the car if it has failed and why it has caused the car to fail the mot. They charge very fairly compared to other garages in and around Portsmouth. I also never feel like I have to get a second opinion from another garage due to the owner, I believe his name is ali always explaining how the part has failed and physically showing me broken parts. I highly recommend A1 automac and would happily take all of my family's vehicles here for mot and any work required. I have spent a lot of money on my car as its modified and they always do everything to accommodate my vehicle.

Me and many of my friends had terrible experience with this garage in Portsmouth. The mechanic made me feel terrible about my car choice, saying it was unreliable and not to be trusted. This really upset me, especially since it was just for an oil change. Then, when I got an engine warning, I went back to the same garage. The mechanic said they would check it out and let me know the problem. After what they called a "thorough" inspection, they told me it was due to a failure in the engine oil pressure pump and that it would cost me a fortune to fix. However, they assured me they had made some adjustments and that I didn't need to worry about it. I ended up paying them 120 pounds, which was still a lot, but not as much as they had initially said. But the same issue happened again later on, so this time I decided to take my car to a different garage. To my surprise, they found the problem within a minute. There was a small engine oil leak underneath the car, which was causing a significant drop in oil level and triggering the low oil pressure warning. The solution was simple: just refill the oil in small quantities and check it regularly. This fixed the issue and I haven't had any problems since. The mechanic at this garage was honest and he let me know what was the actual problem and only charged me 20 pounds for the service. I would never recommend this garage or the mechanic to anyone in Portsmouth. If you truly care about your car, please avoid them at all costs.

Great garage. Been coming here for years and they have always been very good at fixing everything for a very good price. Also, MOT done professionally unlike other places. I know some people will always be disappointed but I personally recommend them as I’ve had good experiences every time.

Excellent service, quick and easy. Came in with a flat tire and a broken locking wheel nut and was rectified, changed and out the door in 20 minutes. Would definitely recommend.
