Lovely quirky building and amazing breakfast. The room was beautiful but a little tired looking in places. If the things like the flickering light, loose drawer handle and dodgy toilet flush were fixed it would definitely be a 5 stars from me. Still enjoyed it and the views were stunning.
Service was good. Our room was very clean and well sized. Loved the history of the building and how this has influenced the hotel decor. However water pressure in the bathroom sink was poor and was unable to negotiate a later check in time. Would stay here again.
The location is great, close to the train station and a 2-5 minute walk into the heart of the city. Room felt luxurious, good views, extremely quiet. Well stocked and reasonablyish priced mini bar. Probably my only complaint was the lack of standard tea. Staff were incredibly helpful and polite. Although I didn't order any the room service food selections sounded amazing. Wish I could have stayed more than one night!
Stayed midweek for work, October 2019. Well, as per other recent reviews, I agree that the rooms and corridors are a tad tired and in need of a spruce-up. But that isn't to detract from this hotel's quirkiness, cleanliness or comfort. My room was very spacious, somewhat quaint and perfectly comfortable. Whilst slightly dated, the only actual point I could criticise was that the shower was lacking in power. The hotel facilities were excellent although I didn't really use them: room service, late night bar, shoe shine etc. The check in and out were friendly and efficient, although a technical issue prevented me getting an invoice at the time hopefully this will be emailed. I didn't eat here evening or morning so can't comment there. Until refurbished due 2020 I believe, the prices are a bargain for this superb location, spaciousness and quirkiness, so I'll be back soon, before the decor and prices upgrade.
Had a lovely two night stay. Room was big but a weird shape, long and thin, which grew on me. Bed was huge and very comfy. Fantastic view of river. Nice to sit at window with a cup of tea in armchair. Bathroom 5 star. Only thing which let it down was the decor. Wallpaper a bit tired. I would stay here again.
This Hotel is seems small on the outside - not much of a reception - size wise. The staff were lovely, the room was spacious - mini bar Struth - an evil luxury. Bathroom was big with a shower in the bath. The tub was actually quite narrow, all in all a nice place to stay restaurants nearby and a Bar too.Rooms: 4/5
Really great hotel in a brilliant location. The room I stayed in didn't have a river view but was impressive, well presented, stylish and clean. Didn't eat there as such, but had room service which was delivered quickly and the food was really nice. Staff were good, free wifi good, glass of wine on checking in nice and a free Yorkshire Posts in reception all made for a great stay. my only minor negative is the TV's menu is complicated to navgigate around and the radio channels on it don't work
Polite and friendly staff. Elegant and sophisticated decor. Rooms a lovely size, clean and bright. Comfortable bed. Near to many nice bars and restaurants. Very close to center but far enough away that it is quiet at night. Had a lovely stay.
What a great nights stay and a beautiful room over looking the canal through Leeds. We arrived a few hours before check in left our case with the receptionist. When we checked that night the hotel staff had already taken our case to our room. The room was full of the old character of the original building with the steel posts used to hold the floor above and the almost 1/2m square wooden beam going across the ceiling. The view out of the window was great got to see a few narrow boats passing a long the canal in the morning. In the bathroom we found two bath robes provided for us. Which I am sure we would have used if we had more time. The room service for breakfast which we didn't have would be dropped off into a private cupboard next to the door. Meaning that you do that have to answer the door or have it left outside your room if your not awake.
I don't usually write reviews, but I was extremely disappointing with the customer service in this hotel, staff were "Helpfully, unhelpful". While they are pleasant to talk to they do not make any effort to assist you or improve customer experience. To keep the review short, I had an awful experience trying to pay for my car parking online both in car park they recommended and street parking. After failing being able to pay online due to not having a UK postcode, I asked at the desk would they have £3 change and after paying a £50 deposit on arrival I didn't think this would be an issue. Rather, I was advised to walk to Sainsbury to take out money and get change I was on a short business trip and had no sterling. It was very late at night and extremely upsetting.
