We had a beautiful meal here. Food is top quality very nice as a treat or for a special occasion. Sunday roast is really lovely too.
Visited Shears for the first time. What a treat. As this is a restaurant I’ll start with the food. In a word very nicely presented absolutely delicious tasty beautifully cooked. With surprisingly generous portions making our seasonal set meal actually really good value. We had Oyster Chicken parfait and Salmon and Dill starter, followed by Sea Bass and Pork Belly with green veg and smashed kimchi spuds. Pudding was Pear and Meringue. 2 beers to drink lovely Czech varieties. Service was friendly well informed and well timed. All in a really lovely experience thx to my daughters for giving us a voucher for here. 30% off in January. This did cause a bit of confusion as initially I was advised we couldn’t use the voucher and get 30% off but once I’d explained the voucher was a full price gift voucher rather than something like a cut price wowcher or Groupon reduction one the 30% reduction was included in full. Looking forward to going again probably after a menu change to try a different gastronomic delight. Thank you.
Great food from starters to desert, first time visiting this place and will definitely be back again. Ambient relaxing atmosphere Jordan and his team looked after us very well- excellent service. Thank you
My friends and I dined with you last night, and had the most wonderful experience. The ambience was perfect, with a lovely Christmassy feel. The waiters were so polite and accommodating. As a vegan, I was met with three beautiful plates of food which were creatively presented, delicious in taste, and offered a range of flavours. I would highly recommend this restaurant, and will certainly be returning. Thank you, and Merry Christmas. Vegetarian options: Fantastic vegan options!
I went to this restaurant for the tasting menu. The food was amazing, the sea bass was the highlight for me. Every dish had something to love about it. This is my favourite tasting menu I have done so far. The service was good, could have been better but it was really busy so I put it down to that
Really disappointed by the Valentine’s Day set menu. There was nothing to complain about the service, but the food was pretty terrible. Out of six courses, I’d say there was one impressive dish. Everything was clearly very cheap 2 slivers of chicken for a main, no accompaniments, minimal sauce, pre-made and most was flavourless. The venison tartar was filled out with the most revolting pan d’epice I’d ever eaten, and they’d scrimped by only adding about 4 tiny pieces of meat. That was maybe the worst dish I’ve ever eaten in a restaurant. The rest wasn’t much better - I mean, who cooks capers to the point they’re black and crunchy? They were burnt and disgusting. The desert was average and tasted cheap, the cheese course was bizarre and also pretty terrible - the only enjoyable course was the fish course. This meal was a real waste of money; I won’t be returning or recommending.
Amazing dinner, amazing cocktails yes they are some of the best! and excellent service! It is always a joy to go to this lovely restaurant, highly recommended
Taster menu - really good, well prepared delicious food. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Sunday lunch looks good, too.... might have to give it a try as well!Food: 5/5
Enjoyed a beef sunday roast with orange wine, but there were no classic dessert options on the Sunday menu and the portion size could have been slightly larger.Food: 4/5
Overall this place was pretty good. I'd recommend the food and the wine selection was great. The beef was good and the Yorkshire puddings were lovely and crispy. However, there were a few issues ranging from minor to terrible. For example, the welcome from the waitress was than...'welcoming.' The same waitress forgot to process some of our sides which we discovered half way through our main...with no apology. Unfortunately, these were the least of the the problems. The waitress did lighten up when her friend entered the bar with a dog who she then left the restaurant to stroke and pick up. This of course in-between serving food. She was then joined by more than one of the chef's who, unbelievably, stroked the dog in front of paying customers! I'm sure they washed their hands afterwards, but this doesn't scream professionalism! On the other hand, another waiter James was fantastic. Very welcoming and very attentive.
