Delicious food that's well seasoned and very reasonably priced. My partner and I discovered this restaurant through Groupon, where we were met with an enticing offer that we couldn't resist. Usually, restaurants that are overblown and recommended by everyone seem to leave us quite disappointed, because the food is never as good as people say. I was hopeful that we'd have a good meal here when I saw the Michelin award, and safe to say, I left feeling incredibly satisfied and taken care of. Every dish was simple but mouth watering; there was not one dish I disliked. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was comfortable and cozy. It definitely deserves more recognition. Overall, I'd say it was one of the best meals that I've had in London. Will definitely come back for more sans discount voucher this time, because it's well worth every pence!
Squid and spicy cauliflower starters were good. The lamb shank and tagine mains were decent but needed more variety in flavour as it got a little tiring to eat after a while. Went here with a Groupon with a stated value of £44, but was really only £34 in value 2 starters up to £5, and 2 mains up to £12, and you pay the difference. The quality of food overall is good, but value is not especially if paying full price.
My partner found this place, and he was able to get a Groupon offer for three courses for £24 pp, the restaurant definitely lived upto expectations. The Groupon offer was great, you basically pay extra for anything over the options included in the deal. So, any starter over £5 and any main that is over £12 you pay the difference. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. I definitely recommend the game pastilla for a starter and the lamb shank with saffron rice my partner ordered as a main. He was definitely pleased with the large portion as was I. Dessert was great, three interesting little parcels, generously filled with chocolate, cheesecake and hazelnut flavours. Also, don't forget to order the sweetened mint tea so delicious to have with the rich desserts.
Zayane certainly lives up to its recent designation of a L’Assiette Michelin, or Michelin Plate - the newly introduced award by Michelin which indicates "restaurants where the inspectors have discovered quality food". You'll be hard-pressed to find a better Moroccan restaurant in London that succeeds in faithfully presenting the authentic flavours of the region while at the same time unostentatiously modernising the cuisine where necessary. And our compliments to Chef Joe Mortell and proud mother Meryem for producing a dish as sensational as the lamb shank - a tagine which, we'd wager, might just be the best tagine in London! Menu Recommendation Drink - Mojito Starter - Briwats Main - Honey & balsamic glazed lamb shank Dessert - Chocolate & hazelnut semifreddo with the Moroccan Mint Tea 2017 review
Lamb with prunes was very nice & tender, just needs more sauce. Chicken tagine was delicious. The Royale couscous was quite a large dish, however needs to be a bit more refined. Accompanying side veg was nice but the sauce needs more flavour. Otherwise it's a bland dish. Not worth the price. The meatballs tagine looked very nice but they were very dry, no seasoning or any sort of flavour. Service was very friendly. Just a bit overpriced.
Food was delicious. The staff was super kind. Mom ate fresh sardines with lentils which she loved. The dip trio was really tasty.
Would give 6 Stars if I could. Food we had vegetarian dishes was amazing. The Rosewater Cheesecake was a perfect end to a great meal. Service was a tad slow as they were very busy, but food was definitely worth the wait.
Fantastic and authentic cuisine. Amazingly warm atmosphere gifted by staff too, especially from the waiter. He served me with veritable alacrity and made me feel right at home from the moment I entered. Beautiful aesthetic all around - - from striking wall patterns to unusual ornaments which wholly compliment the Moroccan theme. Highly recommended for a complete restaurant experience.
The BEST Moroccan restaurant this side of the Mediterranean. The food is exquisite. The chef is seriously top class.
Brilliant meal and atmosphere, will definitely be stopping by again! Food was incredible, fresh quality ingredients and full of flavor all for a fair price. Beautifully decorated, unpretentious gem with amazing hosts. If you're in the mood to try some authentic Moroccan cuisine you should try this family owned place out.
