Good gym with several pieces of equipment. Due to the lack of weight trees, weights are normally left all over the floor and heavily stacked on the sides of equipment. Staff are friendly. Locker rooms are cleaned more frequently than they used to be which is a positive. Great value gym overall. Can't complain.
Excellent gym at awesome prices. The equipment is modern and well maintained. The staff are friendly and approachable. The classes on offer are amazing when you consider its free in your membership. Becoming a member was the best thing I could have done.
If I could give this gym half a star I would absolutely do so. BY FAR the worst gym I have ever used, been in and PAID for. To call this gym embarrassing would be an understatement. Weights thrown all around the floor, nothing put back where it should be. HOLES in the floor, missing equipment grips/handles etc. Yes this is partly down to the members, but things like this should be enforced before it has the opportunity to get in that state! There has been an escalator broken for as long as I can remember; it must be coming up to nearly a year. Staff are rude and don’t seem to care about members. There is a big sign on the first floor of the gym with the very few rules printed on and one of the gyms OWN staff members is still unable to follow them. Overall I would recommend everyone to stay as far away from this gym as possible and avoid it completely. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
I spend a lot of time here, cheap and cheerful but does the job. A wide range of relatively new equipment available although other users are often inconsiderate and leave weights and benches all over the place or hoard lots of weights at once. There are spacious changing rooms, showers, lockers and water machines. The staff are generally friendly but the building could really do with some maintenance as there are always panels missing from the ceiling, exposed cables etc. There are always cleaners present working round the building, which was originally a theatre and has had its ceiling, gallery and plaster mouldings very well preserved. Finger print entry system is incredibly temperamental which is particularly frustrating when there are no staff about to let you in.
Good gym. Well equipped and the staff are really friendly. Only went using a day pass on a Saturday afternoon and wasn't too busy. Can imagine it getting cramped for space during peak times. Also really warm and a little dark inside compared to other gyms.It is messy in there and weights are left all over the place. No one really tidies up so can be difficult to find what you need at times. Overall a good place to workout but would avoid peak times.
Good and bad... not the best gym I've ever been to but at £10 a month it's definitely the cheapest. Good: Usually quiet when I go first thing in the morning or mid afternoon so can get on the equipment I need. Lots of space. Changing rooms are clean and spacious. Lots of different machines etc. They have a large exercise room which is usually empty which you can use. Bad: Takes ages to get anything fixed. The air con broke and took weeks to fix I think it actually might still be broken. Only one water fountain on the top floor so when that breaks you have to go back down to the changing rooms. Couple of broken squat racks on the top floor which have been there for months. No padded stretching area but they do have individual mats. No weight trees so weights are scattered everywhere really annoying. Have to pay 20p to use the hairdryers! No plyo boxes and a limited number of kettle bells. To be honest I will probably cancel my membership after 12 months but for now its okay. JD in Allenton is much better in terms of equipment.
A great gym to take your life's achievements to the next level to reach your ultra goal in life
Plenty of kit, memberships nice and cheap and give you access to their other sites Mansfield is pretty decent. Only downside I've found is how long it can take them to get things fixed. Escalators have been out of service for months and water fountains seem to be going the same way. As with any gym this place can get busy at peak times, I tend to workout after 8 when nearby parking is free and there's no queuing for equipment.
A good lay out with lots of equipment. However lots of things are broken and takes months to get them fixed. Only on water source which is on the top floor and if you go in peck times you littraly have to que up for water. As this gym has a octagon and a boxing ring you can probably guess the absolute weapons this gym can attract. This can be intimidating but if you make an effort to get to know the people at the gym most of them are rather pleasant and always on hand to give you a spot. There is a music system in the studio which was great because in off peak times you could stick some music on your phone to work out to but for some reason they took away the aux jack to connect your phone which I felt was just plain stingy.
It's a good gym with great staff on hand, however the required upkeep to compensate for the plethora of morons that attend this place dropping weights onto the floor leaving huge dents on the ground is not present. Part of the gym feels like walking around an invisible trip hazard as the ground is covered by a softened black pad, which on top of deeply dented flooring makes for the treacherous walk, and some wall panels here and there are a little dinked up but on the whole it's a good gym with really good amount of equipment. There's always at least 1 of 2 water fountains out of action at any given time, it's rare for the both of them to be operational for a prolonged period of time. This gym can't make up for it's client base, which frankly, are what let this gym down. I guess you get heroes at any gym.
