Visited last night with a friend. Food was nice although the burger was small with very little cheese, but the service was very poor, we felt we were in the way, they staff didn't make eye contact and were rude. At the end the waitress cleared the glasses whilst we were still drinking. A real shame but the service needs to improveService: 1/5
This is the 1st time we have been here. Nice little area for outside dining. Food is delicious and well presented. The service started out good to the point that we had finished our mains. We waited 20mins and put plates had still not been cleared. I had to go and tell a member of staff and asked for menus for pudding. When paying the bill they added the 10% service charge which we were not happy about. I would like to also add that it was very quiet so there was no excuse for not checking up on us. Food & drinks: Good quality food.
Staff friendly but food and drinks way over priced. Hot chocolate tasted weaker than a supermarket powdered packet. Location is in a good area but won't be returning for above reasons. Cannot comment on hotel rooms as walk in customer for foodService: 3/5
Called in on spec for lunch, and so glad we did. Superb food well prepared and great service. Enjoyed the beer and all our orders, but the stand out for me was the exceptional scotch egg starter. We loved the food and the setting. Thank you Food & drinks: Exceptional, new spring menu. Goòd choice and we were very happy with the Scallops, and the scotch egg starters. Hake main course and my Ceaser salad were excellent.
Ran out of real ale and the rooms are not cleaned or maintained. Most items on the menu weren't available. I will not be going back but if you must stay there eat at the other pub the White Horse where you will find great food , drink and a warm welcome.
Had an enjoyable weekend stay in a party of 11. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Food was excellent although service was slow Saturday night. Beleave short of a chef. But nonetheless food was of excellent quality.Rooms: 5/5
Staff are lovely and patient, food was ok, as said it wasn't clear what I was supposed to be getting in the vegan breakfast as the first morning things were missing and second morning others things were missing. When we left our room we shut all the windows as it was raining, but when a family member came in to pick up something he said all the windows were open and on the window sill were I slept was 4 wasps, he managed to get them out. Single beds are not the most comfortable and creak at every single move you made, good for short stays Rooms: Massive double beds are nice but my gosh the single bed I had was dreadful, I could feel every single spring in the bed Food & drinks: When we went for breakfast, and I asked for the vegan breakfast, I got some avakado which I didn't see on the list and no spinach, not sure what an ogg was but that wasn't there either. Second morning, I got the spinach, but no toast
The room was dirty and there were insects on the roof of our room. The shower didn’t work and the wlan was very bad. The bed was uncomfortable.Rooms: 2/5
We came as a group to enjoy staying a Shepherd Neame pub and enjoy this regional ale. Sadly that was not to be on the first night there was no draught bitter on the second no draught beer at all. There were so many things off the menu we resorted to asking what they did have. One day none of us could get the breakfast we wanted. Even the full english missed the sausage but this wasn't mentioned till I complained. The room was dirty & not cleaned properly. The mattress was awful and with no sound insulation & creaking floors we could not get a good nights sleep. The bathroom was tiny & in a very poor state with a broken towel rail & a very rusty radiator. The room radiator thermostatic valve didn't work it was either on or off. Very worringly staff took my house keys from the room & didn't tell or ask me. After a frantic search I asked the manager if anyone had found some keys. His response was that a previous guest had left some keys so they took mine thinking they were the missing keys. It could be just extremely bad practice but I have changed locks & alarm code at home. It is such a shame as the village is lovely & the locals very welcoming. This place could be a winner if managed correctly. There isn't much choice of other hotels there but if you do stay in the Woolpack walk up the hill & eat & drink at the White Horse. They had no shortages & great real ale. It was from Green King my local brewery so we never did get to drink Shepherd Neame.
Food was average, apart from some good fresh haddock & chips. Nice atmosphere & acceptable beer.Rooms: 4/5
