Whitehill Country Park

Visited twice and both times have been superb. Fantastic customer care, the lodges are outstanding and the location and views are breath taking. Would recommend highly !!

We were told our chalet wouldn't be ready until 4pm we arrived at 1pm and were pleasantly surprised that our chalet was ready and it was spotlessly clean and well equipped. That is where the good news ends. The onsite pool is small and, the playgrounds are also small and the grounds staff facetious and rude. The laundrette on site is expensive it costs over £5 to wash and tumble dry one load of clothes. The shop is not well stocked, cheap produce at high prices with excruciatingly slow service. Then there was the evening 'entertainment'. So obnoxiously loud that it literally ruined every single evening of the holiday, plan to have a quiet read or play some games in the evening. Good luck with the noise at this place, despite making my concerns known om day one and the noise was excessive all week it was like living next a pub on a rough housing estate. And if you want further proof of the low lives who frequent this place the site security is a private security firm which K9 support. There was one fight outside the bar during the week and really made for an unpleasant stay especially with 2 young children.

Absolutely fantastic place, the children loved it, lovely pool with seating/lounge area. Prices for beer and food are reasonable, the shops always stocked, kids area is ok, the arcade area is dated and needs improvement for kids.

Camped for three nights in a September last minute due to serve weather in Cornwall. While booking online all seemed very professional and looked a really nice site to stay. Once arrived reception staff where lovely and were taken down to our pitch, this unfortunately is where things changed. The pitches are not very big as our 6 man tent would not fit with the car. The grass is kept well cut but all the cuttings are left throughout the site so in only a few days the tent and car were full of grass. The washing up facilities are within the male and female toilets which is awkward as only one person can do the washing up also i don't feel it's very hygienic taking plate and cups into the toilets. The toilet block really does need knocking down and replacing as very cold with an asbestos roof. Then while leaving you get checked up on from quite early to make sure you leave bang on time which is very early at 10am. Would not recommend this campsite and won't be staying again.

Good site if you have kids as there is a pool and soft play plus arts and crafts. If you have not got kids then there are better sites in the area for your money. Very few flat pitches on site and had to use blocks of wood and chocks to make the caravan level. It felt like they packed in as many pitches as possible in to the space. In the section I was in there was a car through route on the grass behind me with the electric hook up on the other side which meant cars driving over my electric wire supply to the van. I know these wires are heavy duty but I was not happy with this. Looking at other pitches this must effect quite a few people. One thing that puzzled me was that new arrivals were being let on site at 10AM, the same time that you need to leave by. This would mean if you have a caravan you may well meet another caravan on the way out down the narrow country lane, an experience I encountered. The toilets and showers were immaculate which is why this site has 3 stars, without decent facilities it would have got a 2 due to the price and pitches. It's not a site for me and only stayed as was with a group of friends, but as I said earlier, if you have kids then this may be a nice site for you and I know that my friends with kids like the site. Just like marmite really...
