Went in for a Sunday dinner after a walk up the Wrekin. Loads of space in the car park, we sat outside with our dog in the sun and had a great Sunday dinner! The portions were huge and the price was really reasonable. Great service too- one of the bartender's brought us a dog water bowl without being asked which was really considerate! Warning- the hearty appetite option for the Sunday dinner is HUGE.
This is a nice enough place. The food here was really excellent. I had the roast beef and it was truly fantastic. The drinks were great. Good selection of everything. Staff were polite and friendly. Decor is nice. We had a nice time overall. However the service was just so slow. We arrived at 13:30 and food didn't arrive till 15:00. After we finished eating they were totally ignored until they seemed to remember us around 16:00 when we ordered pudding and hot drinks. Also in the booking process they wanted £10 per head deposit to book. There were 10 of us so they wanted £100 to book. Crazy. But they never actually sent their bank details so we didn't actually veer pay. But they were so disorganised I don't think they noticed. We all pre-booked our food so the 90 minute delay felt even longer. We were told the cheesecake of the day was blackcurrant but two Toffee cheesecakes arrived. The "pigs in blankets" with the roast turned out to be one pig in a blanket, the custard was served cold with sticky Toffee pudding. So there were some faults. We mentioned that we were a little dissatisfied and they basically said tough. We pushed a little harder and 20 minutes later they gave us 10% off. Which was okay, but not really enough. In the end we left around 17:00.
Not been before so I was pleasantly surprised! Lovely place and a choice of 2 menus! 1 traditional and 1 Asian. Opted for a slow braised lamb shank which was beautiful! Will definitely visit again
1st time I've eaten here. Lovely pub staff very professional polite attentive and very good singers to. Had a lovely day us girls did. Food wS hot beautiful highly recommended this pub to my pals and family x
Great pub, great food, excellent service. One of the kids ate the whole plate and that is saying something. Thanks guys. We will be back. Well worth a visit. The saying on the cushion tickled me too.
Great Motorhome stop £10 a night for EHUfree if not wanting hook up as long as u have a few drinks or eat Meals fantastic! 1 mile from M6 J11 but quiet enough as No through road. TV signal good too.
They allow campervans to stay in the carpark overnight for £5 or £10 with electric hookup. Very friendly staff . Dogs allowed in bar area which is really nice. Had a pizza which was big enough for two people. Will definitely be calling here again on our travels . Kid-friendliness: Play area far end of carpark. Highchairs available and kids menu . Parking: Very large carpark
Had the most amazing Christmas time. Meal and staff were superb. Excellent value, nicely decorated and clean. Thanks to all
We stopped in for an evening meal in the middle of a long journey. The wait staff were very friendly and helpful, and the pub had a lovely feel to it. However, the food was very much below standard. Everything was microwaved and very processed - the seasonal vegetables were frozen peas and one piece of cauliflower. We won't be returning. Vegetarian options: There were vegetarian options but the mushroom linguine that we ordered was inedible. Kid-friendliness: Staff were very happy to provide a high chair for the young child we had with us. We didn't use it but there appeared to be a play area for use in the summer months. Parking: Rural location with plenty of parking.
We booked in here as a large group for Sunday lunch at 1.30. Despite preordering before we arrived, it took an hour and a half for the mains to arrive, with one main not arriving for another 15 minutes after the rest. The same happened with desserts, with a 45 minute wait between ordering and them arriving. The proprietor came round 10 minutes into that wait to say that she felt we had been a bit neglected, and did we want anything else. We said we had ordered and she said she would go check on them, or it would probably be another hour! We went to chase them up another 20 minutes later, but couldn't get anyone's attention at the bar. The food quality was reasonable - I had steak and ale pie with chips, which was quite nice, but the side vegetables were just boiled carrots and peas. Other people on the table had mixed quality food. Unfortunately the puddings were worse: the custard was tepid, and the waitress told us that the cheesecake of the day was blackcurrant then brought toffee. We decided to mention our issues to our waitress. She fetched another waitress who then fetched the proprietor. When we told the proprietor about our experience, she was rude to us, and fought back against each complaint. Eventually she took a token amount off the bill, but offered no apology. This was the second time we had visited this pub and probably the last - the first time we had very slow service although not as bad as this time, which was made worse by the waitress coming back 3 times after taking our order to say something else was unavailable. The waitresses were generally friendly and the room is good for a large group with a dog.
