Once you get past some of the receptionists the Doctors here are great! I've had ongoing issues for a while and every GP I have spoken to has been lovely, I've had every test possible and never been a problem or refused a test. I managed to have a face to face with my own GP Doctor Batiste and he was amazing! Listened to everything I said and and I never felt rushed, this is the reason I stay at this surgery.
Im not one to write reviews, especially as i know the pressure the nhs is facing. I am really disgusted with the service. I've phoned in today to have someone look at my 1 year old daughter as she is poorly. I've tried to explain symptoms to the receptionist, but she kept cutting me off, not wanting to listen to me and assuming that i haven't phoned in between 8 and 10. Every time i phone, the line dies without even ringing. I tried to call again at 3 pm just to be told to send a picture of my ill child. Not to mention, when i asked to see someone for an appointment for myself, i was told to phone again tomorrow between 8 and 10 if i considered my problem urgent. I wouldn't be trying to call all day if my problem was not urgent. Absolutely mortifying service, and i will be changing to another GP
1 star only because i couldn't put zero!!! Had an emergency appointment at around 17:30 over the phone because i have very painful tonsillitis. Doctor helpful but didn't check where i wanted my prescription sent and then sent it to a pharmacy that was already closed. The support staff in this surgery are an absolute joke! It can't be all of their first days surely? I've wasted over an hour stood in a pharmacy being told incorrect information across 3 seperate calls, only to find that when I got to the bottom of the issueeasily resolved the doctor had now gone home and was told i have to wait until the morning for it to be resolved. The 'receptionist' was actually laughing and joking when she came back on the phone to tell me nothing could be done. It was an emergency appointment because it was an emergency! Utterly useless from start to finish!
Called western elms surgery this afternoon as NHS 111 asked me to call due to the referral sent by them to the surgery . The first time I called a lady at the reception was so nice and helpful but the line got cut and was not able to connect back . I called back and to my luck a got a different lady and she was so rude and arrogant and completely refused to help me and cut the phone on my face. Before cutting the phone on my face she spelled out her name as I asked for it and made sure I had it spelt right. She refused to help me even when the referral was sent and was not ready to listen and was so so rude. We call the GP because we need help and not to make us feel worse than we feel already. If you are having a bad day don’t take it on others we are not your punching bag we have feelings as well.
Worst GP I ever deal with. I called them on 28th December to ask for appointment for my 18 months old daughter. Little kid didn't feel well from 25th but because it was Christmas GP was closed. I told them that she has trouble swallowing anything and just few days ago her brother finished his antibiotics, also for throat. So they booked phone appointment. If I knew nobody is gonna see her face to face I will go to hospital straight away. Useless people!!! Other GPS are seeing kids face to face, especially small kids. This is unbelievable
WORST GP EVER! i have been waiting just over a month to get back test results!!! The phone call itself was booked 3 weeks away which was ridiculous for them to call me at an earlier date and leaving me a message to call back to rebook as I had missed the call on a day they was not even supposed to call. After confirming there was a mistake and the doctor was still supposed to call me on the 20th waiting all day for a phone call nothing once again. Someone then called me the following morning apologising saying i will shortly get a call before 12pm again nothing so I called them again for them to only have the nerve to say they don't know why someone called me as I am booked on the phone call list on SATURDAY!!! this surgery is as complete joke
Absolutely 0 star from me! Impossiblle to call as after picking 1 for assistance call get disconnected! After reading review I noticed its their general practise as going like this for months.Looks like noone bother to fix it. Atrocious service!
Unbelievably unprofessional service! My partner has been requesting a referral letter to his private healthcare provider, which obviously a chargeable service and the referral is a prerequisite. Over 3 months of trying, still no referral and only another phone appointment booked, which is a waste of time! He needs a physical examination to treat his condition appropriately and not useless suggestion to be made over the phone! Whilst his condition is not an emergency case, it can be life threatening none the less!
Such poor service. Whilst appreciating the pressure that surgeries are under, the inability to communicate is hugely frustrating. Phone calls seem to be rarely answered - calls terminate after 3 or 4 rings - continuously. Deliberate? Like so many patients I work and it's not possible to keep dialing, Also a current web notification confirming an appointment appears to have a broken or wrong link and I can’t call to check the date/time. I've always found the GP/Nurse service to be very good, but the admin leaves a lot to be desired and it must be creating more work for an already pressured team. Sorry, but you need to know.
I understand that the NHS is overstretched. However, it is infuriating when the receptionist rolls her eyes when you ask for appointment that does not meet HER threshold of urgency who ever thought it is a good idea that reception staff 'triages' patients?. Unfriendly receptionists CHECK Never able to see same GP CHECK Long waiting times for appointments CHECK Not able to book GP appointments online CHECK Won't call you to discuss blood results CHECK Lose the documentation sent by your insurance CHECK Tell the insurance you are not registered with the surgery CHECK Just a typical surgery in Reading...
