Word can’t describe just how good this hospital is, the staff are beyond fantastic and so friendly, the facilities are superb, clean, fresh and well managed. I had my left hip replaced, it took three months from being referred to getting a new full hip. This really has to be the model for future, non emergency surgery scheduled and done on the allotted day. So from me a huge thank you.
Nicest, kindest, friendliest and the most polite staff I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much everyone specially a gentleman called Rob don’t know his surname his kind words and caring made the procedure much much easier and and massive thanks to Rob again, Dr Camprodon and two other lovely ladies who just by entering my room with a lovely heartwarming smile, my stress level dropped to zero at that moment. And everything else on time and perfect.
Not a patient myself, but the daughter of a very happy patient! The treatment my mother received from start to finish was second to none, i would like to thank every single one of the incredibly hard working wonderful staff that do this company proud! I would though, especially like to thank Sonia Herron-Moore, whose care, support and love could not be described in words. My mom is an incredibly strong woman, and for the first time i saw her worry about her imminent hip operation, however the shining light which is Sonia came and collected her and took her up for her surgery, calming her down as she waved us all goodbye. By the time she’d settled in her room and given us a call she was already 100% calmer, allowing us all to breathe! That evening when I went to see my mom, she was a new woman! Sonia came in and i could immediately tell my mom was in the safest most caring hands. I was absolutely terrified of visiting hours knowing i would have to leave her once again in just a few hours time, but after meeting Sonia i knew mom was in the best hands and in for a great night. She kept us both well informed and entertained throughout and we always looked forward to her drop-ins!! When it was time to take my mom home, she went above and beyond once again. Noticing how nervous i was to be the one collecting mom after the surgery she helped me to walk her down to the car. She helped me get her into my tiny fiesta with absolute ease, whilst also giving me tips for how to safely get her in and out of the car for future reference, which was greatly appreciated. Since being home moms re-told many stories from their interactions showing this daunting surgery has been bypassed by the incredible service provided! I could not praise this incredible woman anymore if i tried! She deserves all the credit in the world - From our ENTIRE family to you - Thank you so very much.
I was referred to West Midlands Hospital for two conditions. On both outpatient appointments the Consultants were quite happy for my wife to sign for me as I am deaf, my wife has a degree in British Sign Language and I am used to her signing.nnMy appointment with the first consultant at outpatients suggested I need to go into hospital for a laparoscopy. I was sent an appointment letter asking me to attend the West Midlands Hospital. We arrived on the day at 7.30 as requested and After waiting 90 minutes the receptionist came up to us and said I am sorry, they have said they can't see you as the interpreter has not arrived. My wife explained she would sign for me. The receptionist said she would let the ward know and it would be up to them. After waiting another 20 minutes I said to my wife I am not stopping we are going home. I am a nervous patient anyway and to go through this experience as well was too much. No one from the ward came down to discuss anything.nnI cancelled my laparoscopy inpatient appointment as I did not feel confident with the hospital at that pointnnI was given information on how to complain and send it to paula sheperd Quality and improvements assistant. We composed a letter of complaint and received a prompt reply stating that it was Ramsay ‘s Corporate policy to use their own interpreters. We requested a meeting with the hospital and met with the hospital director Chris Gendall and the Quality improvement assistant Paula Sheperd This is where things started to improve, it was a very productive meeting as we explained that it was not Ramsay's choice to use their interpreters as they said it was their corporate policy but the deaf persons. This is actually laid down in various acts by parliament. The information we supplied was received very well and they apologised for it happening. They had already started to make improvements such as flash cards and portable electronic writing board, which in my experience shows they took the matter seriously. Hopefullty the staff will remain aware of these improvements and be useful for any deaf or hard of hearing patients in the future. Not sure if this has been applied to the Ramsay group of hospitals?nnAfter waiting a few months for the appointment for admission to the hospital for my hernia contacted paula and within half an hour got 2 appointments one for preadmission and another for admission date.nnFrom then on I did not have any problems whatsoever. When I was admitted my consultant Mr Campradon and all of the staff were so friendly and helpful. My wife signed to me and was with me right up until I went into the operating theatre and the recovery room afterwards.nnI cannot fault the care I was given at this hospital it is a shame they were not aware of the issues surrounding my disability.nnThe hospital would get a4 star review from me. Had it not been for the above would have got more. I would recommend this hospital.
Very pleased with the care & treatment from all the staff.I had recently a laparoscopic cholecystectomy and I was awake 2 hours after my surgery, another 2 hours later I was suitable for discharge! Amazing care from all the staff,a massive thank you from the bottom of my heart nKeep up the good work xx
