What a superb Muslim friendly destination for a getaway. Facilities were excellent with a fully kitted out kitchen and a top end newly installed hot tub. The hot tub overlooks the Loch and a beautiful landscape view was something to behold. With great privacy and awesome views I would go back and recommend others to visit.
I recently stayed at this lovely lodge. Genuinely had a brilliant time. It is well equipped with all the amenities one would require. The hot tub is truly amazing and being in there whilst the sun was setting and again at sun rise was awesome! We spent much of our time relaxing and enjoying the views around the loch. There's plenty of activities for all within driving distance to the property, especially the biking around forest of AE where we hired the bikes from. Thanks to Louise for being at hand and ensuring we had everything we needed. I would like to add a final note on the negative comments/reviews of others. Every holiday home/hotel in the world have rules and regulations. This is to ensure that those guests who SHOULD be staying there are experiencing the best possible stay. Book a room in a hotel for 2 people and then have 5 people stay there isn't morally correct and it's a major inconvenience to the owners and to the residents of course there isn't going to be enough hot water!. Any individual with the slightest common sense would understand that! As a holiday home owner myself I also have CCTV on the outside of the home and I've only ever used it if there has been a serious breach and/or damage to my property. The CCTV is located on the outside of the house only on this property and does not focus anywhere near the hot tub. I've been to many holiday homes and hotels around the world and majority have CCTV everywhere. Wholly my opinion and didn't bother us at all. Overall the place is awesome and certainly worth the price. Extremely satisfying experience for all of us and would highly recommend to anyone.
Absolutely brilliant lodge for a nice relaxing break. I’ve been to lodges before that have a nasty smell etc however this one is just like home. I love how it’s completely halal! Has a prayer room and how clean it was. Everything was perfect and definitely will be visiting again. The housekeeper was also at hand whenever needed and extremely pleasant. Thank you for an amazing stay!
Highly recommend this place. Great for families and groups. Will definitely be using in the future. Only disappointment was the outdoor cushions were damaged by the previous occupants therefore we could not sit on the rattan seats. Also one of the rooms room 2 was not an en suite, floor plan layout on website shows possibility to lock one door and turn room into en suite however, on arrival it seemed the door was removed and walled up. Regardless overall stay was very enjoyable. Thanks WSL team and Louise. Look forward to visiting next year... in sha Allah ;
We were looking for a quality quiet holiday with our 5 children - away from work, school and general everyday stresses when we were told about the Waterside lodge. Our main aim was to find somewhere we could spend quality time and make amazing memories with the children. Waterside lodge exceeded every single one of our expectations and more! Booking was a breeze- wonderful communication and customer service. Also the housekeeper Louise is a true gem, so welcoming and helpful. The lodge itself is beyond perfection inside and out, we walked in and were just blown away! Everything you could possibly need or want is there, classy decor throughout, two of the bedrooms have onsuite bathrooms, prayer room, a fully equipped top of the range kitchen in an open plan living area with the most amazing views of the Mill loch which you can enjoy from most parts of the lodge! Outside the lodge is stunning, the views the decking area, the hot tub I could go on and on! Main thing is the views- where you would normally have to travel for such views you have it here at the lodge right on your doorstep! We stayed at the lodge with our 5 children ages ranging from 14 years to 1year old and everyone of them loved It. There are plenty of walks we took them on but the favourite was definitely a walk through Ae forest! A visit and walk around Caerlaverock Castle is also a must and not forgetting the walk around the Mill loch which starts just outside waterside lodge. We stayed in August for 5 nights and our only regret was not booking a couple of extra nights as nobody wanted to leave! Much thanks goes to the owner for creating such an amazing place where many many will enjoy fantastic holidays and be able to create amazing memories.
The lodge is a family-friendly home and the views of the loch really topped it off. If you're fortunate enough to have good weather during your stay, I'd recommend the outdoor seating area. The value for money is great, I would come again for sure.
We recently spent a weekend at this unique lodge. It was thoroughly enjoyed by the young and the old as there was something to do for everyone from playing board games on rainy days to exploring the lovely village of Lochmaben.. the lodge itself has the most beautiful interior and not only can you enjoy the beauty of it all from inside but also from the outside.. The lodge has its very own hot tub which sits right above the lake with the most mesmeric view especially when the sun is setting, the experiance of an outdoor hot tub over looking a lake was incredibly relaxing. There was never a dull moment. From all the holiday homes we have experianced so far non of them have been as captivating as much as waterside lodge. From the moment you step in you feel the peacefulness of the place. There was nothing to complain about everything was perfect for an extended family of 12. The lovely housekeeper Louise was so welcoming and ensured she met all our needs. Hope to return soon. Thank you @watersidelodge for the most amazing experiance. It was most definitely as they say a home away from home.
We stayed at the lodge in April 2017. First impressions - beautiful views, open space and cosy! In reality - the owner is very intrusive in regards to visitors personal space and will make use of the CCTV to view occupants contrary to being Muslim friendly. This only came to our attention after receiving a phone call about the number of people, hence be aware there is a huge lack of privacy and that the cameras are not simply there for security purposes! Also it is unknown who else can view the cctv footage, therefore if you observe hijab or if children are in the property etc. Be aware that the images will be on CCTV - something that made us all extremely uncomfortable and conscious during our stay. The owner also implements a strange rule of 4 visitors per day at the maximum and that visitors must leave by 8pm. We have stayed in countless hotels around the world, have never come across this! Something which was also not stated in the terms and conditions. Overall would not recommend due to the lack of customer service from the highly egotistical, rude owner who felt it important to mention that the property was his and therefore could implement any rule he likes. We would have returned home had we not paid upfront but did result in leaving one night early and spent the majority of our time outdoors due to the above. Also note that hot water did not work in the bathroom, the heater in the upstairs ensuite is as hot as an iron! Would advise to be extremely careful especially with children.
Definitely recommend this place to getaway with family or friends. Excellent space indoors and outdoors. Property was in immaculate condition and facilities were top notch. Also have to mention that great service from the housekeeper.Rooms: 5/5
Fabulous venue. Lovely property. Amenities excellent. Hot Tub fantastic. All fixtures and fittings of high spec. Would definitely come back again.
