The crown is a very friendly pub. As soon as you walk in you are treated as if you have been going there for years. The patrons make an effort to speak to you and find common ground while the bar staff are very much helpful and very useful. I cannot comment on the rooms however i can say the food is if high qaulity and no horses where harmed making it. Its near the bus stop and all the ammenities are nearby.

We stopped here for a quick coffee and bite to eat on our drive back to glasgow from manchester. I have never waited so long and had such dire service. Myself and my husband were tired and the last thing we were expecting was to wait 30 mins for 2 very simple thimble sized luke warm small coffees at an overpriced cost of £2.55 each. Then we waited an extra 10 minutes for our meals, a very simple soup and baked potato which was pretty bland no seasoning to be found. In total 40 mins and £13.60 later; i must say i really dont think it was worth the wait or the cost. Its true what another reviewer stated on tripadvisor; they commented the hotel has an air of "faulty towers" but in my mind just cringeworthy with nothing to laugh about. To add insult to injury a group of 9 cyclists had to wait over an hour for their simple teas, scones and toasties to then be greeted with the dithering waitress who served them; quibbling over miscalculated prices and who was responsible for paying what. What a shambles, they need to shape up. Maybe the locals will put up with this kind of service but passers through certainly wont. No stars im afraid but i had to put one to post this!!

Nice hot chunky soup to warm up after a morning at Eskrigg. Toastie was good too.

We got a last minute booking for two twin rooms that shared a bathroom, but both were well furnished, comfortable and the price was good. The staff were lovely and even made us breakfast before the usual starting time because we had to leave early. Altogether a short but lovely stay.
