Waterloo is great, it could be much more than it is, there's the beach, iron men, attractions, great bars and restaurants, events. What a pity about the s**** all over the pavements, the mess people leave and the bin bags left out by already overflowing bins. Come on, get a grip!!!!
Pleasant staff. The only particular downside is the quality of the waiting facilities. Given the extent to which the station is used, these appear insubstantial. Furthermore, they are frequently in a shabby state - with automatic doors and heating systems dysfunctional.
Nice old station entrance reminiscent of those of similar age on the London Underground with a shop that sells drinks, snacks, newspapers and cigarettes. Lift to platform as well as attractive stairs. Enclosed waiting shelter and bike rack on the single island platform, with a few tubs of flowers to brighten things up in summer.
Again, 4 stars - good!
Station itself is fine, with a waiting area. It always seems overstaffed though and staff always seek to be in healthy conversation with each other, to the exclusion of others. When they do decide to acknowledge you, service is generally surly and condescending.
