Staff on the craziest power trip. I had bought a ticket online at another station and as the ticket desk was unmanned I couldn't get a physical ticket. It was probably one of the last trains in and I assumed that when I arrived at central I could provide my proof of purchase and get tickets printed there.nInstead I was met by a rude member of who threatened to fine me an insane amount of money and kept me there whilst he also intimidated a tourist who had accidentally ended up at central with the wrong tickets. The tourist had clear issues with communication and was genuinely confused and lost.nBut this member of staff decided that us passengers really had to know who was in charge.Lol!nAfter his 'investigation' he then realised that he had no grounds to keep me and fine me haha! As the ticket office he contacted confirmed that yes NO ONE was there.nThis really rubbed him up the wrong way :'nHe then proceeded to charge me yet again with the full price of the ticket. He told me I had to go and buy it from the ticket office and if I didn't my details would be passed to Merseyside police. Funny guy tbhnProbably about £6 it set me back, but he really had to make sure that I was aware of his power! Lol. Proper skint nownHe can now use this experience to put on his CV for his community officer application. Best wishes
A very busy station. Barrier staff are there to do a job, but can be a bit officious before they start to listen to problems at the barriers. The Northern Line platform can become very busy and crowded at times.
Good station offering very good service with welcoming and helpful staff.nAccess to central Liverpool One and the fantastic Bold Street with great food on offer from around the world.
This was a great train station to depart from, with a large area for the many services! It is easy to navigate around using the signs and the accessibility level is proper, supported by escalators. All the departures are listed on a board and there is a regularly updated one on each platform, which have consistent colour schemes with Merseyride rail. The platform I used with my friend was appropriately sized for our train, however it was unfortunately delayed.
Been using this station for over 40 years now. A lot of money has been spent to modernise central and it's worked! The station is bright and clean. As you walk in there's a good shop well stocked with newspapers/magazines/fresh coffee. Ticket purchase is quick and hassle free. There's loads of monitors around with up to the minute train/platform info. The toilets are well kept and free! There's loads of security/guards dotted around so it feels safe and they are very helpful. Seating is available whilst you wait. No issues here
